Chapter 29
KJV · Textus Receptus
FurthermoreDavid thekingsaid unto all thecongregation,Solomon myson, whomaloneGod hathchosen, is yetyoung andtender, and thework isgreat: for thepalace is not forman, but for theLORDGod.
Now I haveprepared with all mymight for thehouse of myGod thegold for things to be made ofgold, and thesilver for things ofsilver, and thebrass for things ofbrass, theiron for things ofiron, andwood for things ofwood;onyxstones, and stones to beset, glisteringstones, and of diverscolours, and all manner ofpreciousstones, andmarblestones inabundance.
Moreover, because I have set myaffection to thehouse of myGod, Ihave of mine own propergood, ofgold andsilver, which I havegiven to thehouse of myGod, over andabove all that I haveprepared for theholyhouse,
Eventhreethousandtalents ofgold, of thegold ofOphir, andseventhousandtalents ofrefinedsilver, tooverlay thewalls of thehouses withal:
Thegold for things ofgold, and thesilver for things ofsilver, and for all manner ofwork to be made by thehands ofartificers. And who then iswilling toconsecrate hisservice thisday unto theLORD?
Then thechief of thefathers andprinces of thetribes ofIsrael, and thecaptains ofthousands and ofhundreds, with therulers of theking'swork, offeredwillingly,
Andgave for theservice of thehouse ofGod ofgoldfivethousandtalents and tenthousanddrams, and ofsilvertenthousandtalents, and ofbrasseighteenthousandtalents, and onehundredthousandtalents ofiron.
And they with whom preciousstones werefoundgave them to thetreasure of thehouse of theLORD, by thehand ofJehiel theGershonite.
Then thepeoplerejoiced, for that they offeredwillingly, because withperfectheart they offeredwillingly to theLORD: andDavid theking alsorejoiced withgreatjoy.
WhereforeDavidblessed theLORDbefore all thecongregation: andDavidsaid,Blessed be thou,LORDGod ofIsrael ourfather, forever andever.
Thine, OLORD, is thegreatness, and thepower, and theglory, and thevictory, and themajesty: for all that is in theheaven and in theearth is thine; thine is thekingdom, OLORD, and thou artexalted ashead above all.
Bothriches andhonour come ofthee, and thoureignest over all; and in thinehand ispower andmight; and in thinehand it is to makegreat, and to givestrength unto all.
Now therefore, ourGod, wethank thee, andpraise thygloriousname.
But who am I, and what is mypeople, that we shouldbeable to offer sowillingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thineown have wegiven thee.
For we arestrangersbefore thee, andsojourners, as were all ourfathers: ourdays on theearth are as ashadow, and there is noneabiding.
OLORD ourGod, all thisstore that we haveprepared tobuild thee anhouse for thineholyname cometh of thinehand, and is all thine own.
Iknow also, myGod, that thoutriest theheart, and hastpleasure inuprightness. As for me, in theuprightness of mineheart I have willinglyoffered all these things: and now have Iseen withjoy thypeople, which arepresent here, to offerwillingly unto thee.
OLORDGod ofAbraham,Isaac, and ofIsrael, ourfathers, keep this forever in theimagination of thethoughts of theheart of thypeople, andprepare theirheart unto thee:
Andgive untoSolomon myson aperfectheart, tokeep thycommandments, thytestimonies, and thystatutes, and todo all these things, and tobuild thepalace, for the which I have madeprovision.
AndDavidsaid to all thecongregation, Nowbless theLORD yourGod. And all thecongregationblessed theLORDGod of theirfathers, and bowed down theirheads, andworshipped theLORD, and theking.
And theysacrificedsacrifices unto theLORD, andoffered burntofferings unto theLORD, on themorrow after thatday, even athousandbullocks, athousandrams, and athousandlambs, with their drinkofferings, andsacrifices inabundance for allIsrael:
And dideat anddrinkbefore theLORD on thatday withgreatgladness. And they madeSolomon theson ofDavidking the secondtime, andanointed him unto theLORD to be the chiefgovernor, andZadok to bepriest.
ThenSolomon saton thethrone of theLORD asking instead ofDavid hisfather, andprospered; and allIsraelobeyed him.
And all theprinces, and the mightymen, and all thesons likewise ofkingDavid, submittedthemselves untoSolomon theking.
And theLORDmagnifiedSolomonexceedingly in thesight of allIsrael, andbestowed upon him suchroyalmajesty as had not been on anykingbefore him inIsrael.
ThusDavid theson ofJessereigned over allIsrael.
And thetime that hereigned overIsrael wasfortyyears;sevenyearsreigned he inHebron, andthirty andthree yearsreigned he inJerusalem.
And hedied in agood oldage, full ofdays, riches, andhonour: andSolomon hissonreigned in his stead.
Now theacts ofDavid theking, first andlast, behold, they arewritten in thebook ofSamuel theseer, and in thebook ofNathan theprophet, and in thebook ofGad theseer,
With all hisreign and hismight, and thetimes that wentover him, and overIsrael, and over all thekingdoms of thecountries.
