1 Samuel
Chapter 29
KJV · Textus Receptus
Now thePhilistines gatheredtogether all theirarmies toAphek: and theIsraelitespitched by afountain which is inJezreel.
2 And thelords of thePhilistines passedon byhundreds, and bythousands: butDavid and hismen passedon in therereward withAchish.
3 Thensaid theprinces of thePhilistines, What do theseHebrews here? AndAchishsaid unto theprinces of thePhilistines, Is not thisDavid, theservant ofSaul theking ofIsrael, which hath been with me thesedays, or theseyears, and I havefound nofault in himsince hefell unto me unto thisday?
4 And theprinces of thePhilistines werewroth with him; and theprinces of thePhilistinessaid unto him,Make thisfellowreturn, that he may goagain to hisplace which thou hastappointed him, and let him not godown with us tobattle, lest in thebattle he be anadversary to us: for wherewith should hereconcile himself unto hismaster? should it not be with theheads of thesemen?
5 Is not thisDavid, of whom theysang one to another indances, saying,Saulslew histhousands, andDavid his tenthousands?
6 ThenAchishcalledDavid, andsaid unto him, Surely, as theLORDliveth, thou hast beenupright, and thy goingout and thy comingin with me in thehost isgood in mysight: for I have notfoundevil in thee since theday of thycoming unto me unto thisday: nevertheless thelordsfavour theenot.
7 Wherefore nowreturn, andgo inpeace, that thoudisplease not thelords of thePhilistines.
8 AndDavidsaid untoAchish, But what have Idone? and what hast thoufound in thyservant so longas I have been withthee unto thisday, that I may notgofight against theenemies of mylord theking?
9 AndAchishanswered andsaid toDavid, Iknow that thou artgood in mysight, as anangel ofGod: notwithstanding theprinces of thePhilistines havesaid, He shall not goup with us to thebattle.
10 Wherefore now rise upearly in themorning with thymaster'sservants that arecome with thee: and as soon as ye be upearly in themorning, and havelight, depart.
11 SoDavid and hismen rose upearly todepart in themorning, toreturn into theland of thePhilistines. And thePhilistines wentup toJezreel.
