NowJehoshaphat hadriches andhonour inabundance, and joinedaffinity withAhab.
2 Andafter certainyears he wentdown toAhab toSamaria. AndAhabkilledsheep andoxen for him inabundance, and for thepeople that he had with him, andpersuaded him to goup with him toRamothgilead.
3 AndAhabking ofIsraelsaid untoJehoshaphatking ofJudah, Wilt thougo with me toRamothgilead? And heanswered him, I am as thou art, and mypeople as thypeople; and we will be with thee in thewar.
4 AndJehoshaphatsaid unto theking ofIsrael,Enquire, I pray thee, at theword of theLORD today.
5 Therefore theking ofIsrael gatheredtogether ofprophetsfourhundredmen, andsaid unto them, Shall wego toRamothgilead tobattle, or shall Iforbear? And theysaid, Goup; forGod willdeliver it into theking'shand.
6 ButJehoshaphatsaid, Is there not here aprophet of theLORD besides, that we mightenquire of him?
7 And theking ofIsraelsaid untoJehoshaphat, There is yetoneman, by whom we mayenquire of theLORD: but Ihate him; for he neverprophesiedgood unto me, butalwaysevil: the same isMicaiah theson ofImla. AndJehoshaphatsaid, Let not thekingsay so.
8 And theking ofIsraelcalled forone of hisofficers, andsaid, FetchquicklyMicaiah theson ofImla.
9 And theking ofIsrael andJehoshaphatking ofJudahsateither of them on histhrone,clothed in theirrobes, and theysat in a voidplace at the enteringin of thegate ofSamaria; and all theprophetsprophesiedbefore them.
10 AndZedekiah theson ofChenaanah hadmade himhorns ofiron, andsaid, Thussaith theLORD, With these thou shaltpushSyria until they beconsumed.
11 And all theprophetsprophesied so,saying, Goup toRamothgilead, andprosper: for theLORD shalldeliver it into thehand of theking.
12 And themessenger thatwent tocallMicaiahspake to him,saying, Behold, thewords of theprophets declaregood to theking withoneassent; let thyword therefore, I pray thee, be likeone of theirs, andspeak thougood.
13 AndMicaiahsaid, As theLORDliveth, even what myGodsaith, that will Ispeak.
14 And when he wascome to theking, thekingsaid unto him,Micaiah, shall wego toRamothgilead tobattle, or shall Iforbear? And hesaid, Go yeup, andprosper, and they shall bedelivered into yourhand.
15 And thekingsaid to him, How manytimes shall Iadjure thee that thousay nothing but thetruth to me in thename of theLORD?
16 Then hesaid, I didsee allIsraelscattered upon themountains, assheep that have noshepherd: and theLORDsaid, These have nomaster; let themreturn therefore everyman to hishouse inpeace.
17 And theking ofIsraelsaid toJehoshaphat, Did I nottell thee that he would notprophesygood unto me, butevil?
18 Again hesaid, Thereforehear theword of theLORD; Isaw theLORDsitting upon histhrone, and all thehost ofheavenstanding on his righthand and on hisleft.
19 And theLORDsaid, Who shallenticeAhabking ofIsrael, that he may goup andfall atRamothgilead? And onespakesaying after thismanner, and anothersaying after thatmanner.
20 Then there cameout aspirit, andstoodbefore theLORD, andsaid, I willentice him. And theLORDsaid unto him, Wherewith?
21 And hesaid, I will goout, and be alyingspirit in themouth of all hisprophets. And the LORDsaid, Thou shaltentice him, and thou shalt alsoprevail: goout, anddo even so.
22 Now therefore, behold, theLORD hathput alyingspirit in themouth of these thyprophets, and theLORD hathspokenevil against thee.
23 ThenZedekiah theson ofChenaanah camenear, andsmoteMicaiah upon thecheek, andsaid,Whichwaywent theSpirit of theLORD from me tospeak unto thee?
24 AndMicaiahsaid, Behold, thou shaltsee on thatday when thou shaltgo into aninnerchamber tohide thyself.
25 Then theking ofIsraelsaid,Take yeMicaiah, and carry himback toAmon thegovernor of thecity, and toJoash theking'sson;
26 Andsay, Thussaith theking,Put this fellow in theprison, andfeed him withbread ofaffliction and withwater ofaffliction, until Ireturn inpeace.
27 AndMicaiahsaid, If thoucertainlyreturn inpeace, then hath not theLORDspoken by me. And hesaid,Hearken, all yepeople.
28 So theking ofIsrael andJehoshaphat theking ofJudah wentup toRamothgilead.
29 And theking ofIsraelsaid untoJehoshaphat, I willdisguise myself, and willgo to thebattle; butput thou on thyrobes. So theking ofIsraeldisguised himself; and theywent to thebattle.
30 Now theking ofSyria hadcommanded thecaptains of thechariots that were with him,saying,Fight ye not withsmall orgreat, save only with theking ofIsrael.
31 And it came to pass, when thecaptains of thechariotssawJehoshaphat, that theysaid, It is theking ofIsrael. Therefore they compassedabout him tofight: butJehoshaphat criedout, and theLORDhelped him; andGodmoved them to depart from him.
32 For it came to pass, that, when thecaptains of thechariotsperceived that it was not theking ofIsrael, they turned backagain frompursuing him.
33 And a certain mandrew abow at aventure, andsmote theking ofIsrael between thejoints of theharness: therefore hesaid to hischariotman, Turn thine hand, that thou mayest carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.
34And the battle increased that day: howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he died.
