If thereariseamong you aprophet, or adreamer ofdreams, andgiveth thee asign or a wonder,
2 And thesign or thewonder come topass, whereof hespake unto thee,saying, Let usgoafterothergods, which thou hast notknown, and let us serve them;
3 Thou shalt nothearken unto thewords of thatprophet, or thatdreamer ofdreams: for theLORD yourGodproveth you, toknow whetheryelove theLORD yourGod with all yourheart and with all your soul.
4 Ye shallwalkafter theLORD yourGod, andfear him, andkeep hiscommandments, andobey hisvoice, and ye shallserve him, and cleave unto him.
5 And thatprophet, or thatdreamer ofdreams, shall be put todeath; because he hathspoken toturn you away from theLORD yourGod, which brought youout of theland ofEgypt, andredeemed you out of thehouse ofbondage, tothrust thee out of theway which theLORD thyGodcommanded thee to walkin. So shalt thouput theevilaway from the midst of thee.
6 If thybrother, theson of thymother, or thyson, or thydaughter, or thewife of thybosom, or thyfriend, which is as thine ownsoul,entice theesecretly,saying, Let usgo andserveothergods, which thou hast notknown, thou, nor thy fathers;
7 Namely, of thegods of thepeople which are roundabout you,nigh unto thee, or faroff from thee, from the oneend of theearth even unto the otherend of the earth;
9 But thou shaltsurelykill him; thinehand shall befirst upon him to put him todeath, andafterwards thehand of all the people.
10 And thou shaltstone him withstones, that hedie; because he hathsought to thrust theeaway from theLORD thyGod, which brought theeout of theland ofEgypt, from thehouse of bondage.
11 And allIsrael shallhear, andfear, and shalldo nomoreany suchwickedness as this is among you.
12 If thou shalthear say inone of thycities, which theLORD thyGod hathgiven thee todwell there, saying,
13 Certainmen, thechildren ofBelial, are goneout fromamong you, and havewithdrawn theinhabitants of theircity,saying, Let usgo andserveothergods, which ye have not known;
14 Then shalt thouenquire, and makesearch, andaskdiligently; and, behold, if it betruth, and thethingcertain, thatsuchabomination iswrought among you;
15 Thou shaltsurelysmite theinhabitants of thatcity with theedge of thesword, destroying itutterly, and all that is therein, and thecattle thereof, with theedge of the sword.
16 And thou shaltgather all thespoil of it into themidst of thestreet thereof, and shaltburn withfire thecity, and all thespoil thereof everywhit, for theLORD thyGod: and it shall be anheap forever; it shall not be built again.
17 And there shallcleavenought of the cursedthing to thinehand: that theLORD mayturn from thefierceness of hisanger, andshew theemercy, and havecompassion upon thee, andmultiply thee, as he hathsworn unto thy fathers;
18 When thou shalthearken to thevoice of theLORD thyGod, tokeep all hiscommandments which Icommand thee thisday, todo that which isright in theeyes of theLORD thy God.
