When theLORD thyGod hath cutoff thenations, whoseland theLORD thyGodgiveth thee, and thousucceedest them, anddwellest in theircities, and in their houses;
2 Thou shaltseparatethreecities for thee in themidst of thyland, which theLORD thyGodgiveth thee to possess it.
3 Thou shaltprepare thee away, and divide thecoasts of thyland, which theLORD thyGod giveth thee toinherit, into threeparts, that everyslayer may flee thither.
4 And this is thecase of theslayer, which shallflee thither, that he maylive: Whosokilleth hisneighbourignorantly, whom hehated not intime past;
5 As when a mangoeth into thewood with hisneighbour tohewwood, and hishand fetcheth astroke with theaxe to cutdown thetree, and theheadslippeth from thehelve, andlighteth upon hisneighbour, that hedie; he shallflee untoone of thosecities, and live:
6 Lest theavenger of thebloodpursue theslayer,while hisheart ishot, andovertake him, because theway islong, andslayhim; whereas he was notworthy ofdeath, inasmuchas hehated him not intime past.
7 Wherefore Icommand thee,saying, Thou shaltseparatethree cities for thee.
8 And if theLORD thyGodenlarge thycoast, as he hathsworn unto thyfathers, andgive thee all theland which hepromised togive unto thy fathers;
9 If thou shaltkeep all thesecommandments todo them, which Icommand thee thisday, tolove theLORD thyGod, and towalkever in hisways; then shalt thouaddthreecities more for thee, beside these three:
10 Thatinnocentblood be notshedin thyland, which theLORD thyGodgiveth thee for aninheritance, and so blood be upon thee.
11 But if anymanhate hisneighbour, and lie inwait for him, and riseup against him, andsmite himmortally that hedie, andfleeth intoone ofthese cities:
12 Then theelders of hiscity shallsend andfetch him thence, anddeliver him into thehand of theavenger ofblood, that he may die.
13 Thineeye shall notpity him, but thou shalt putaway the guilt ofinnocentblood fromIsrael, that it may go well with thee.
14 Thou shalt notremove thyneighbour'slandmark, which they of oldtime haveset in thineinheritance, which thou shaltinherit in theland that theLORD thyGodgiveth thee to possess it.
15Onewitness shall not riseup against aman for anyiniquity, or for anysin, in anysin that hesinneth: at themouth oftwowitnesses, or at themouth ofthreewitnesses, shall thematter be established.
16 If afalsewitness riseup against anyman totestify against him that which is wrong;
17 Thenboth themen, between whom thecontroversy is, shallstandbefore theLORD,before thepriests and thejudges, which shall be in those days;
18 And thejudges shall makediligentinquisition: and, behold, if thewitness be afalsewitness, and hathtestifiedfalsely against his brother;
19 Then shall yedo unto him, as he hadthought to havedone unto hisbrother: so shalt thouput theevilaway from among you.
20 And those whichremain shallhear, andfear, and shallhenceforthcommit no moreany suchevil among you.
21 And thineeye shall notpity; butlife shall go forlife,eye foreye,tooth fortooth,hand forhand,foot for foot.
