Chapter 22

Thou shalt notsee thybrother'sox or hissheep goastray, andhide thyself from them: thou shalt in anycase bring themagain unto thy brother.
2 And if thybrother be notnigh unto thee, or if thouknow him not, then thou shaltbring itunto thine ownhouse, and it shall be with thee until thybrotherseek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again.
3 In likemanner shalt thoudo with hisass; and so shalt thoudo with hisraiment; and with all lostthing of thybrother's, which he hathlost, and thou hastfound, shalt thoudo likewise: thoumayest not hide thyself.
4 Thou shalt notsee thybrother'sass or hisox falldown by theway, andhide thyself from them: thou shaltsurely help him to lift them up again.
5 Thewoman shall not wear that whichpertaineth unto aman, neither shall amanput on awoman'sgarment: for all thatdoso areabomination unto theLORD thy God.
6 If abird'snestchance to bebefore thee in theway in anytree, or on theground, whether they be youngones, oreggs, and thedamsitting upon theyoung, or upon theeggs, thou shalt nottake thedam with the young:
7 But thou shalt in anywise let thedamgo, andtake theyoung to thee; that it may bewell with thee, and that thou mayestprolong thy days.
8 When thoubuildest anewhouse, then thou shaltmake abattlement for thyroof, that thoubring notblood upon thinehouse, if anyman fall from thence.
9 Thou shalt notsow thyvineyard with diversseeds: lest thefruit of thyseed which thou hastsown, and thefruit of thyvineyard, be defiled.
10 Thou shalt notplow with anox and anass together.
11 Thou shalt notwear a garment of diverssorts, as ofwoollen andlinen together.
12 Thou shaltmake theefringes upon thefourquarters of thyvesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.
13 If anymantake awife, and goin unto her, and hate her,
14 Andgiveoccasions ofspeech against her, and bringup anevilname upon her, andsay, Itook thiswoman, and when Icame to her, Ifound her not a maid:
15 Then shall thefather of thedamsel, and hermother,take and bringforth the tokens of thedamsel'svirginity unto theelders of thecity in the gate:
16 And thedamsel'sfather shallsay unto theelders, Igave mydaughter unto thisman towife, and he hateth her;
17 And, lo, he hathgivenoccasions ofspeech against her,saying, Ifound not thydaughter amaid; and yet these are the tokens of mydaughter'svirginity. And they shallspread theclothbefore theelders of the city.
18 And theelders of thatcity shalltake thatman and chastise him;
19 And they shallamerce him in anhundred shekels ofsilver, andgive them unto thefather of thedamsel, because he hath broughtup anevilname upon avirgin ofIsrael: and she shall be hiswife; hemay not put heraway all his days.
20 But if thisthing betrue, and the tokens ofvirginity be notfound for the damsel:
21 Then they shall bringout thedamsel to thedoor of herfather'shouse, and themen of hercity shallstone her withstones that shedie: because she hathwroughtfolly inIsrael, to play thewhore in herfather'shouse: so shalt thouputevilaway from among you.
22 If aman befoundlying with awomanmarried to anhusband, then they shall both ofthemdie, both theman thatlay with thewoman, and thewoman: so shalt thou putawayevil from Israel.
23 If adamsel that is avirgin bebetrothed unto anhusband, and amanfind her in thecity, and lie with her;
24 Then ye shallbring themboth out unto thegate of thatcity, and ye shallstone them withstones that theydie; thedamsel,because shecried not, being in thecity; and theman,because he hathhumbled hisneighbour'swife: so thou shalt putawayevil from among you.
25 But if amanfind abetrotheddamsel in thefield, and themanforce her, andlie with her: then theman only thatlay with her shall die:
26 But unto thedamsel thou shaltdonothing; there is in thedamsel nosin worthy ofdeath: for as when amanriseth against hisneighbour, andslayeth him, even so is this matter:
27 For hefound her in thefield, and thebetrotheddamselcried, and there was none to save her.
28 If amanfind adamsel that is avirgin, which is notbetrothed, and layhold on her, andlie with her, and they be found;
29 Then theman thatlay with her shallgive unto thedamsel'sfatherfifty shekels ofsilver, and she shall be hiswife; because he hathhumbled her, hemay not put heraway all his days.
30 Aman shall nottake hisfather'swife, nordiscover hisfather's skirt.
