Deuteronomy
Chapter 32
KJV · Textus Receptus
Giveear, O yeheavens, and I willspeak; andhear, Oearth, thewords of my mouth.
Mydoctrine shalldrop as therain, myspeech shalldistil as thedew, as the smallrain upon the tenderherb, and as theshowers upon the grass:
Because I willpublish thename of theLORD:ascribe yegreatness unto our God.
He is theRock, hiswork isperfect: for all hisways arejudgment: aGod oftruth and withoutiniquity, just and right is he.
They havecorrupted themselves, theirspot is not the spot of hischildren: they are aperverse andcrooked generation.
Do ye thusrequite theLORD, Ofoolishpeople andunwise? is not he thyfather that hathbought thee? hath he notmade thee, and established thee?
Remember thedays ofold, consider theyears ofmanygenerations:ask thyfather, and he willshew thee; thyelders, and they will tell thee.
When the mostHighdivided to thenations theirinheritance, when heseparated thesons ofAdam, heset thebounds of thepeople according to thenumber of thechildren of Israel.
For theLORD'Sportion is hispeople;Jacob is thelot of his inheritance.
Hefound him in adesertland, and in thewastehowlingwilderness; he led himabout, heinstructed him, hekept him as theapple of his eye.
As aneagle stirrethup hernest, fluttereth over heryoung, spreadethabroad herwings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
So theLORDalone didlead him, and there was nostrange god with him.
He made himride on the highplaces of theearth, that he mighteat theincrease of thefields; and he made him tosuckhoney out of therock, andoil out of theflinty rock;
Butter ofkine, andmilk ofsheep, withfat oflambs, andrams of thebreed ofBashan, andgoats, with thefat ofkidneys ofwheat; and thou didstdrink thepureblood of the grape.
ButJeshurun waxedfat, andkicked: thou art waxenfat, thou art grownthick, thou artcovered with fatness; then heforsookGod whichmade him, and lightlyesteemed theRock of his salvation.
They provoked him tojealousy withstrange gods, withabominations provoked they him to anger.
Of theRock thatbegat thee thou artunmindful, and hastforgottenGod that formed thee.
And when theLORDsaw it, heabhorred them, because of theprovoking of hissons, and of his daughters.
And hesaid, I willhide myface from them, I willsee what theirend shall be: for they are a veryfrowardgeneration, children in whom is no faith.
They have moved me tojealousy with that which isnotGod; they have provoked me toanger with theirvanities: and I will move them tojealousy with those which are not apeople; I will provoke them toanger with afoolish nation.
For afire iskindled in mineanger, and shallburn unto thelowesthell, and shallconsume theearth with herincrease, and set onfire thefoundations of the mountains.
I willheapmischiefs upon them; I willspend mine arrows upon them.
They shall beburnt withhunger, anddevoured with burningheat, and withbitterdestruction: I will alsosend theteeth ofbeasts upon them, with thepoison ofserpents of the dust.
Theswordwithout, andterrorwithin, shalldestroy both the youngman and thevirgin, thesuckling also with theman of gray hairs.
Isaid, I would scatter them intocorners, I would make theremembrance of them tocease from among men:
Were itnot that Ifeared thewrath of theenemy, lest theiradversaries should behave themselvesstrangely, and lest they shouldsay, Ourhand ishigh, and theLORD hath not done all this.
For they are anationvoid ofcounsel, neither is there any understanding in them.
Othat they werewise, that theyunderstood this, that they wouldconsider their latter end!
How shouldonechase athousand, andtwo puttenthousand toflight, except theirRock hadsoldthem, and theLORD had shut them up?
For theirrock is not as ourRock, even ourenemies themselves being judges.
For theirvine is of thevine ofSodom, and of thefields ofGomorrah: theirgrapes aregrapes ofgall, theirclusters are bitter:
Theirwine is thepoison ofdragons, and thecruelvenom of asps.
Is not this laid up instore with me, and sealedup among my treasures?
To me belongethvengeance, andrecompence; theirfoot shallslide in duetime: for theday of theircalamity is athand, and the things that shallcome upon them make haste.
For theLORD shalljudge hispeople, andrepent himself for hisservants, when heseeth that theirpower isgone, and there isnone shutup, or left.
And he shallsay, Where are theirgods, theirrock in whom they trusted,
Which dideat thefat of theirsacrifices, anddrank thewine of their drinkofferings? let them riseup andhelp you, and be your protection.
See now that I, even I, am he, and there is nogod with me: Ikill, and I makealive; Iwound, and Iheal: neither is there any that candeliver out of my hand.
For I liftup myhand toheaven, andsay, Ilive for ever.
If Iwhet myglitteringsword, and minehand takehold onjudgment; I willrendervengeance to mineenemies, and willreward them that hate me.
I will make minearrowsdrunk withblood, and mysword shalldevourflesh; and that with the enemy.
Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.
And Moses came and spake all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Hoshea the son of Nun.
And Moses made an end of speaking all these words to all Israel:
And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.
For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.
And the LORD spake unto Moses that selfsame day, saying,
Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession:
And die in the mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people:
Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel.
Yet thou shalt see the land before thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.
