KJV · Textus Receptus
In thethirdmonth, when thechildren ofIsrael were goneforth out of theland ofEgypt, the samedaycame they into thewilderness of Sinai.
For they weredeparted fromRephidim, and werecome to thedesert ofSinai, and hadpitched in thewilderness; and thereIsraelcamped before the mount.
AndMoses wentup untoGod, and theLORDcalled unto him out of themountain,saying, Thus shalt thousay to thehouse ofJacob, andtell thechildren of Israel;
Ye haveseen what Idid unto theEgyptians, and how Ibare you oneagles'wings, and brought you unto myself.
Now therefore, if ye willobey myvoiceindeed, andkeep mycovenant, then ye shall be a peculiartreasure unto me above allpeople: for all the earth is mine:
And ye shall be unto me akingdom ofpriests, and anholynation. These are thewords which thou shaltspeak unto thechildren of Israel.
AndMosescame andcalled for theelders of thepeople, andlaid before theirfaces all thesewords which theLORD commanded him.
And all thepeopleansweredtogether, andsaid, All that theLORD hathspoken we willdo. AndMosesreturned thewords of thepeople unto the LORD.
And theLORDsaid untoMoses, Lo, Icome unto thee in athickcloud, that thepeople mayhear when Ispeak with thee, andbelieve thee forever. AndMosestold thewords of thepeople unto the LORD.
And theLORDsaid untoMoses,Go unto thepeople, andsanctify them today and tomorrow, and let themwash their clothes,
And beready against thethirdday: for thethirdday theLORD will comedown in thesight of all thepeople uponmount Sinai.
And thou shalt setbounds unto thepeople roundabout, saying, Takeheed to yourselves, that ye go notup into themount, ortouch theborder of it: whosoevertoucheth themount shall besurely put to death:
There shall not anhandtouch it, but he shallsurely bestoned, orshotthrough; whether it bebeastorman, it shall notlive: when thetrumpet soundethlong, they shall comeup to the mount.
AndMoses wentdown from themount unto thepeople, andsanctified thepeople; and theywashed their clothes.
And hesaid unto thepeople,Beready against thethirdday:come not at your wives.
And it came to pass on thethirdday in themorning, that there werethunders andlightnings, and athickcloud upon themount, and thevoice of thetrumpetexceedingloud; so that all thepeople that was in thecamp trembled.
AndMoses broughtforth thepeople out of thecamp tomeet withGod; and theystood at thenether part of the mount.
AndmountSinai was altogether on asmoke, because theLORDdescended upon it infire: and thesmoke thereofascended as thesmoke of afurnace, and the wholemountquaked greatly.
And when thevoice of thetrumpetsoundedlong, and waxedlouder andlouder,Mosesspake, andGodanswered him by a voice.
And theLORD camedown uponmountSinai, on thetop of themount: and theLORDcalledMoses upto thetop of themount; andMoses went up.
And theLORDsaid untoMoses, Godown, charge thepeople, lest they breakthrough unto theLORD togaze, andmany of them perish.
And let thepriests also, which comenear to theLORD,sanctify themselves, lest theLORD break forth upon them.
AndMosessaid unto theLORD, Thepeoplecannot comeup tomountSinai: for thouchargedst us,saying, Setbounds about themount, and sanctify it.
And theLORDsaid unto him,Away, get theedown, and thou shalt comeup, thou, andAaron with thee: but let not thepriests and thepeople breakthrough to comeup unto theLORD, lest he break forth upon them.
SoMoses wentdown unto thepeople, and spake unto them.
