Chapter 9
KJV · Textus Receptus
Then theLORDsaid untoMoses,Go in untoPharaoh, andtell him, Thussaith theLORDGod of theHebrews, Let mypeoplego, that they may serve me.
For if thourefuse to let themgo, and wilt hold them still,
Behold, thehand of theLORDis upon thycattle which is in thefield, upon thehorses, upon theasses, upon thecamels, upon theoxen, and upon thesheep: there shall be averygrievous murrain.
And theLORD shallsever between thecattle ofIsrael and thecattle ofEgypt: and there shallnothingdie of all that is thechildren's of Israel.
And theLORDappointed a settime, saying, Tomorrow theLORD shalldo thisthing in the land.
And theLORDdid thatthing on themorrow, and all thecattle ofEgyptdied: but of thecattle of thechildren ofIsraeldied not one.
AndPharaohsent, and, behold, there was notone of thecattle of theIsraelitesdead. And theheart ofPharaoh washardened, and he did not let thepeople go.
And theLORDsaid untoMoses and untoAaron,Take to youhandfuls ofashes of thefurnace, and letMosessprinkle it toward theheaven in thesight of Pharaoh.
And it shall become smalldust in all theland ofEgypt, and shall be aboil breakingforth withblains uponman, and uponbeast, throughout all theland of Egypt.
And theytookashes of thefurnace, andstoodbeforePharaoh; andMosessprinkled it up towardheaven; and it became aboil breakingforth withblains uponman, and upon beast.
And themagicianscould notstandbeforeMosesbecause of theboils; for theboil was upon themagicians, and upon all the Egyptians.
And theLORDhardened theheart ofPharaoh, and hehearkened not unto them; as theLORD hadspoken unto Moses.
And theLORDsaid untoMoses, Rise upearly in themorning, andstandbeforePharaoh, andsay unto him, Thussaith theLORDGod of theHebrews, Let mypeoplego, that they may serve me.
For I will at thistimesend all myplagues upon thineheart, and upon thyservants, and upon thypeople; that thou mayestknow that there is none like me in all the earth.
For now I will stretchout myhand, that I maysmite thee and thypeople withpestilence; and thou shalt be cutoff from the earth.
And inverydeed for this cause have I raised theeup, for toshew in thee mypower; and that myname may bedeclared throughout all the earth.
As yetexaltest thou thyself against mypeople, that thou wilt not let them go?
Behold, tomorrow about thistime I will cause it torain averygrievoushail, such as hath notbeen inEgyptsince thefoundation thereof even until now.
Send therefore now, andgather thycattle, and all that thou hast in thefield; for upon everyman andbeast which shall befound in thefield, and shall not bebroughthome, thehail shall comedown upon them, and they shall die.
He thatfeared theword of theLORD among theservants ofPharaoh made hisservants and hiscattleflee into the houses:
And he thatregarded not theword of theLORDleft hisservants and hiscattle in the field.
And theLORDsaid untoMoses, Stretchforth thinehand towardheaven, that there may behail in all theland ofEgypt, uponman, and uponbeast, and upon everyherb of thefield, throughout theland of Egypt.
AndMoses stretchedforth hisrod towardheaven: and theLORDsentthunder andhail, and thefire ranalong upon theground; and theLORDrainedhail upon theland of Egypt.
So there washail, andfiremingled with thehail, verygrievous, such as there wasnone like it in all theland ofEgypt since it became a nation.
And thehailsmote throughout all theland ofEgypt all that was in thefield, bothman andbeast; and thehailsmote everyherb of thefield, andbrake everytree of the field.
Only in theland ofGoshen, where thechildren ofIsrael were, was there no hail.
AndPharaohsent, andcalled forMoses andAaron, andsaid unto them, I havesinned thistime: theLORD isrighteous, and I and mypeople are wicked.
Intreat theLORD (for it isenough) that there be no moremightythunderings andhail; and I will let yougo, and ye shallstay no longer.
AndMosessaid unto him, As soon as I am goneout of thecity, I will spreadabroad myhands unto theLORD; and thethunder shallcease, neither shall there be any morehail; that thou mayestknow how that theearth is the LORD'S.
But as for thee and thyservants, Iknow that ye will not yetfear theLORD God.
And theflax and thebarley wassmitten: for thebarley was in theear, and theflax was bolled.
But thewheat and therie were notsmitten: forthey were not grown up.
AndMoses wentout of thecity fromPharaoh, and spreadabroad hishands unto theLORD: and thethunders andhailceased, and therain was notpoured upon the earth.
And whenPharaohsaw that therain and thehail and thethunders wereceased, hesinned yetmore, andhardened hisheart, he and his servants.
And theheart ofPharaoh washardened, neither would he let thechildren ofIsraelgo; as theLORD hadspokenby Moses.
