And theword of theLORD came unto me, saying,
2Son ofman,set thyface towardJerusalem, anddrop thy word toward the holyplaces, andprophesy against theland of Israel,
3 Andsay to theland ofIsrael, Thussaith theLORD; Behold, I am against thee, and will drawforth mysword out of hissheath, and will cutoff from thee therighteous and the wicked.
4Seeing then that I will cutoff from thee therighteous and thewicked, therefore shall mysword goforth out of hissheath against allflesh from thesouth to the north:
5 That allflesh mayknow that I theLORD have drawnforth mysword out of hissheath: it shall not return any more.
6Sigh therefore, thouson ofman, with thebreaking of thyloins; and withbitternesssigh before their eyes.
7 And it shall be, when theysay unto thee, Whereforesighest thou? that thou shaltanswer, For thetidings; because itcometh: and everyheart shallmelt, and allhands shall befeeble, and everyspirit shallfaint, and allknees shall beweak aswater: behold, itcometh, and shall be brought topass,saith theLord GOD.
8 Again theword of theLORD came unto me, saying,
9Son ofman,prophesy, andsay, Thussaith theLORD;Say, Asword, asword issharpened, and also furbished:
10 It issharpened to make asoreslaughter; it isfurbished that it mayglitter:should we then makemirth? itcontemneth therod of myson, as every tree.
11 And he hathgiven it to befurbished, that it may behandled: thissword issharpened, and it isfurbished, togive it into thehand of the slayer.
12Cry andhowl,son ofman: for it shall be upon mypeople, it shall be upon all theprinces ofIsrael:terrors by reasonof thesword shall be upon mypeople:smite therefore upon thy thigh.
13 Because it is atrial, and what if the swordcontemn even therod? it shall be no more,saith theLord GOD.
14 Thou therefore,son ofman,prophesy, andsmite thinehandstogether, and let thesword bedoubled thethird time, thesword of theslain: it is thesword of thegreat men that areslain, which entereth into their privy chambers.
15 I haveset thepoint of thesword against all theirgates, that theirheart mayfaint, and theirruins bemultiplied:ah! it ismadebright, it is wrappedup for the slaughter.
16 Go thee one way orother, eitheron the righthand, or on theleft,whithersoever thyface is set.
17 I will alsosmite minehandstogether, and I will cause myfury torest: I theLORD have said it.
18 Theword of theLORD came unto me again, saying,
19 Also, thouson ofman,appoint theetwoways, that thesword of theking ofBabylon maycome: bothtwain shall comeforth out ofoneland: andchoose thou aplace,choose it at thehead of theway to the city.
20Appoint away, that thesword maycome toRabbath of theAmmonites, and toJudah inJerusalem the defenced.
21 For theking ofBabylonstood at theparting of theway, at thehead of thetwoways, tousedivination: he made hisarrowsbright, heconsulted withimages, helooked in the liver.
22 At his righthand was thedivination forJerusalem, toappointcaptains, toopen themouth in theslaughter, to liftup thevoice withshouting, toappoint batteringrams against thegates, tocast amount, and tobuild a fort.
23 And it shall be unto them as afalsedivination in theirsight, to them that haveswornoaths: but he will call toremembrance theiniquity, that they may be taken.
24 Therefore thussaith theLordGOD; Because ye have made youriniquity to beremembered, in that yourtransgressions arediscovered, so that in all yourdoings yoursins doappear; because, I say, that ye are come toremembrance, ye shall betaken with the hand.
25 And thou,profanewickedprince ofIsrael, whoseday iscome,wheniniquity shall have an end,
26 Thussaith theLordGOD;Remove thediadem, and takeoff thecrown: this shall not be thesame:exalt him that islow, andabase him that is high.
27 I willoverturn,overturn,overturn, it: and it shallbe no more, until hecome whoseright it is; and I will give it him.
28 And thou,son ofman,prophesy andsay, Thussaith theLordGOD concerning theAmmonites, and concerning theirreproach; evensay thou, Thesword, thesword isdrawn: for theslaughter it isfurbished, toconsume because of the glittering:
29 Whiles theyseevanity unto thee, whiles theydivine alie unto thee, tobring thee upon thenecks of them that areslain, of thewicked, whoseday iscome,when theiriniquity shall have an end.
30 Shall I cause it toreturn into hissheath? I willjudge thee in theplace where thou wastcreated, in theland of thy nativity.
31 And I will pourout mineindignation upon thee, I willblow against thee in thefire of mywrath, anddeliver thee into thehand ofbrutishmen, andskilful to destroy.
32 Thou shalt be forfuel to thefire; thyblood shall be in themidst of theland; thou shalt be no moreremembered: for I theLORD have spoken it.
