Seeing thatAbraham shall surely become agreat andmightynation, and all thenations of theearth shall be blessed in him?
For Iknow him,that he willcommand hischildren and hishousehold afterhim, and they shallkeep theway of theLORD, todojustice andjudgment; that theLORD maybring uponAbraham that which he hath spoken of him.
And theLORDsaid, Because thecry ofSodom andGomorrah isgreat, and because theirsin isvery grievous;
I will godown now, andsee whether they havedonealtogether according to thecry of it, which iscome unto me; and if not, I will know.
And themen turned theirfaces from thence, andwent towardSodom: butAbrahamstoodyetbefore the LORD.

Peradventure therebefiftyrighteouswithin thecity: wilt thou alsodestroy and notspare theplacefor thefiftyrighteous that are therein?
That befar from thee todo after thismanner, toslay therighteous with thewicked: and that therighteous should be as thewicked, that befar from thee: Shall not theJudge of all theearthdo right?
And theLORDsaid, If Ifind inSodomfiftyrighteouswithin thecity, then I willspare all the place for their sakes.
AndAbrahamanswered andsaid, Behold now, I have taken uponme tospeak unto theLord,which am butdust and ashes:
Peradventure there shalllackfive of thefiftyrighteous: wilt thoudestroy all thecity for lack offive? And hesaid, If Ifind thereforty andfive, I will not destroy it.
And hespake unto him yetagain, andsaid, Peradventure there shall befortyfound there. And hesaid, I will notdo it for forty's sake.
And hesaid unto him,Oh let not theLord beangry, and I willspeak: Peradventure there shallthirty befound there. And hesaid, I will notdo it, if Ifind thirty there.
