ThenJacob wenton hisjourney, andcame into theland of thepeople of the east.
2 And helooked, and behold awell in thefield, and, lo, there werethreeflocks ofsheeplying by it; for out of thatwell theywatered theflocks: and agreatstone was upon thewell's mouth.
3 And thither were all theflocksgathered: and theyrolled thestone from thewell'smouth, andwatered thesheep, andput thestoneagain upon thewell'smouth in his place.
4 AndJacobsaid unto them, Mybrethren,whence be ye? And theysaid, Of Haran are we.
5 And hesaid unto them,Know yeLaban theson ofNahor? And theysaid, We know him.
6 And hesaid unto them, Is hewell? And theysaid, He iswell: and, behold,Rachel hisdaughtercometh with the sheep.
7 And hesaid,Lo, it is yethighday, neither is ittime that thecattle should be gatheredtogether:water ye thesheep, andgo and feed them.
8 And theysaid, Wecannot, until all theflocks be gatheredtogether, and till theyroll thestone from thewell'smouth; then wewater the sheep.
9 And while heyetspake with them,Rachelcame with herfather'ssheep: for she kept them.
10 And it came to pass, whenJacobsawRachel thedaughter ofLaban hismother'sbrother, and thesheep ofLaban hismother'sbrother, thatJacob wentnear, androlled thestone from thewell'smouth, andwatered theflock ofLaban hismother's brother.
11 AndJacobkissedRachel, and liftedup hisvoice, and wept.
12 AndJacobtoldRachel that he was herfather'sbrother, and that he wasRebekah'sson: and sheran andtold her father.
13 And it came to pass, whenLabanheard thetidings ofJacob hissister'sson, that heran tomeet him, andembraced him, andkissed him, andbrought him to hishouse. And hetoldLaban all these things.
14 AndLabansaid to him,Surely thou art mybone and myflesh. And heabode with him thespace of a month.
15 AndLabansaid untoJacob, Because thou art mybrother, shouldest thou thereforeserve me fornought?tell me, what shall thy wages be?
16 AndLaban hadtwodaughters: thename of theelder wasLeah, and thename of theyounger was Rachel.
18 AndJacoblovedRachel; andsaid, I willserve theesevenyears forRachel thyyounger daughter.
19 AndLabansaid, It isbetter that Igive her to thee, than that I shouldgive her toanotherman: abide with me.
20 AndJacobservedsevenyears forRachel; and theyseemed unto him but afewdays, for the love he had to her.
21 AndJacobsaid untoLaban,Give me mywife, for mydays arefulfilled, that I may go in unto her.
22 AndLaban gatheredtogether all themen of theplace, andmade a feast.
23 And it came to pass in theevening, that hetookLeah hisdaughter, andbrought her to him; and he went in unto her.
24 AndLabangave unto hisdaughterLeahZilpah hismaid for an handmaid.
25 And it came to pass, that in themorning, behold, it wasLeah: and hesaid toLaban, What is this thou hastdone unto me? did not Iserve with thee forRachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?
26 AndLabansaid, It must not be sodone in ourcountry, togive theyoungerbefore the firstborn.
27Fulfilherweek, and we willgive thee this also for theservice which thou shaltserve with me yetsevenother years.
28 AndJacobdid so, andfulfilled herweek: and hegave himRachel hisdaughter to wife also.
29 AndLabangave toRachel hisdaughterBilhah hishandmaid to be her maid.
30 And he wentin also untoRachel, and heloved alsoRachel more thanLeah, andserved with him yetsevenother years.
31 And when theLORDsaw thatLeah washated, heopened herwomb: butRachel was barren.
32 AndLeahconceived, andbare ason, and shecalled hisnameReuben:for shesaid,Surely theLORD hathlooked upon myaffliction; nowtherefore myhusband will love me.
33 And sheconceived again, andbare ason; andsaid, Because theLORD hathheard that I washated, he hath thereforegiven me this son also: and shecalled hisname Simeon.
34 And she conceivedagain, andbare ason; andsaid, Now thistime will myhusband bejoined unto me, because I haveborn himthreesons: therefore was hisnamecalled Levi.
35 And sheconceived again, andbare ason: and shesaid,Now will Ipraise theLORD: therefore shecalled hisnameJudah; andleft bearing.
