AndJacob liftedup hiseyes, andlooked, and, behold,Esaucame, and with himfourhundredmen. And hedivided thechildren untoLeah, and untoRachel, and unto thetwo handmaids.
2 And heput thehandmaids and theirchildrenforemost, andLeah and herchildrenafter, andRachel andJoseph hindermost.
3 And he passedover beforethem, and bowedhimself to thegroundseventimes, until he camenear to his brother.
4 AndEsauran to meethim, andembraced him, andfell on hisneck, and kissedhim: and they wept.
5 And he liftedup hiseyes, andsaw thewomen and thechildren; andsaid, Who arethose with thee? And hesaid, Thechildren whichGod hath graciouslygiven thy servant.
6 Then thehandmaidens camenear, they and theirchildren, and they bowed themselves.
7 AndLeah also with herchildren camenear, and bowedthemselves: andaftercameJosephnear andRachel, and they bowed themselves.
8 And hesaid, What meanest thou by all thisdrove which Imet? And hesaid, These are tofindgrace in thesight of my lord.
9 AndEsausaid, Ihaveenough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.
10 AndJacobsaid, Nay, I pray thee, if now I havefoundgrace in thysight, thenreceive mypresent at myhand: for therefore I haveseen thyface, as though I hadseen theface ofGod, and thou wast pleased with me.
11Take, I pray thee, myblessing that isbrought to thee; becauseGod hath dealt graciously withme, andbecause Ihaveenough. And heurged him, and he took it.
12 And hesaid, Let us take ourjourney, and let usgo, and I will go before thee.
13 And hesaid unto him, Mylordknoweth that thechildren aretender, and theflocks andherds withyoung are with me: and if men shouldoverdrive themoneday, all theflock will die.
14 Let mylord, I pray thee, passoverbefore hisservant: and I will leadonsoftly, accordingas thecattle that goeth beforeme and thechildren be able toendure, until Icome unto mylord unto Seir.
15 AndEsausaid, Let me nowleave with thee some of thefolk that are with me. And hesaid,What needeth it? let mefindgrace in thesight of my lord.
16 SoEsaureturned thatday on hisway unto Seir.
17 AndJacobjourneyed toSuccoth, andbuilt him anhouse, andmadebooths for hiscattle: therefore thename of theplace iscalled Succoth.
18 AndJacobcame toShalem, acity ofShechem, which is in theland ofCanaan, when hecame fromPadanaram; and pitched histentbefore the city.
19 And hebought aparcel of afield, where he hadspread histent, at thehand of thechildren ofHamor,Shechem'sfather, for anhundred pieces of money.
20 And heerected there analtar, and calledit Elelohe-Israel.
