AndAdamknewEve hiswife; and sheconceived, andbareCain, andsaid, I havegotten amanfrom the LORD.
2 And sheagainbare hisbrotherAbel. AndAbel was akeeper ofsheep, butCain was atiller of the ground.
3 And inprocess oftime it came to pass, thatCainbrought of thefruit of theground anoffering unto the LORD.
4 AndAbel,he alsobrought of thefirstlings of hisflock and of thefat thereof. And theLORD hadrespect untoAbel and to his offering:
5 But untoCain and to hisoffering he had notrespect. AndCain wasverywroth, and hiscountenance fell.
6 And theLORDsaid untoCain, Why art thouwroth? and why is thycountenance fallen?
7If thou doestwell, shalt thou not beaccepted? and if thou doest notwell,sinlieth at thedoor. And unto thee shall be hisdesire, and thou shalt rule over him.
8 AndCaintalkedwithAbel hisbrother: and it came to pass, when they were in thefield, thatCain roseupagainstAbel hisbrother, and slew him.
9 And theLORDsaid untoCain,Where isAbel thybrother? And hesaid, Iknow not: Am I mybrother's keeper?
10 And hesaid,What hast thoudone? thevoice of thybrother'sbloodcrieth unto me from the ground.
11 And now art thoucursed from theearth, which hathopened hermouth toreceive thybrother'sblood from thy hand;
12When thoutillest theground, it shall nothenceforthyield unto thee herstrength; afugitive and avagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
13 AndCainsaid unto theLORD, Mypunishment isgreater than I can bear.
14 Behold, thou hast driven meout thisday from theface of theearth; andfrom thyface shall I behid; and I shall be afugitive and avagabond in theearth; and it shall come topass, that every one that findethme shall slay me.
15 And theLORDsaid unto him,Therefore whosoeverslayethCain, vengeance shall betaken on himsevenfold. And theLORDset amark uponCain,lest anyfinding him should kill him.
16 AndCain wentout from thepresence of theLORD, anddwelt in theland ofNod, on theeast of Eden.
17 AndCainknew hiswife; and sheconceived, andbareEnoch: and hebuilded acity, andcalled thename of thecity, after thename of hisson, Enoch.
18 And untoEnoch wasbornIrad: andIradbegatMehujael: andMehujaelbegatMethusael: andMethusaelbegat Lamech.
19 AndLamechtook unto himtwowives: thename of theone wasAdah, and thename of theother Zillah.
20 AndAdahbareJabal: he was thefather of such asdwell intents, and of such as have cattle.
21 And hisbrother'sname wasJubal: he was thefather of all such ashandle theharp and organ.
22 AndZillah, she alsobareTubalcain, aninstructer of everyartificer inbrass andiron: and thesister ofTubalcain was Naamah.
23 AndLamechsaid unto hiswives,Adah andZillah,Hear myvoice; yewives ofLamech,hearken unto myspeech: for I haveslain aman to mywounding, and a youngman to my hurt.
24IfCain shall beavengedsevenfold, trulyLamechseventy and sevenfold.
25 AndAdamknew hiswifeagain; and shebare ason, andcalled hisnameSeth: ForGod, said she, hathappointed meanotherseedinstead ofAbel,whomCain slew.
26 And toSeth, tohim also there wasborn ason; and hecalled hisnameEnos: then beganmen tocall upon thename of the LORD.
