And it came to passafter thesethings, that thebutler of theking ofEgypt and hisbaker hadoffended theirlord theking of Egypt.
2 AndPharaoh waswrothagainsttwo of hisofficers, against thechief of thebutlers, and against thechief of the bakers.
3 And heput them inward in thehouse of thecaptain of theguard, into theprison, theplace whereJoseph was bound.
4 And thecaptain of theguardchargedJoseph with them, and heserved them: and they continued aseason in ward.
5 And theydreamed adream both ofthem, eachman hisdream inonenight, eachman according to theinterpretation of hisdream, thebutler and thebaker of theking ofEgypt, which werebound in theprison.
6 AndJoseph camein unto them in themorning, andlooked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.
7 And heaskedPharaoh'sofficers that were with him in theward of hislord'shouse,saying, Whereforelook ye sosadly to day?
8 And theysaid unto him, We havedreamed adream, and there is nointerpreter of it. AndJosephsaid unto them, Do notinterpretations belong toGod? tell me them, I pray you.
9 And thechiefbutlertold hisdream toJoseph, andsaid to him, In mydream, behold, avine was before me;
10 And in thevine werethreebranches: and it was as though itbudded, and herblossoms shotforth; and theclusters thereof brought forthripe grapes:
11 AndPharaoh'scup was in myhand: and Itook thegrapes, andpressed them intoPharaoh'scup, and Igave thecup intoPharaoh's hand.
12 AndJosephsaid unto him, This is theinterpretation of it: Thethreebranches arethree days:
13Yet withinthreedays shallPharaoh liftup thinehead, andrestore thee unto thyplace: and thou shaltdeliverPharaoh'scup into hishand, after theformermanner when thou wast his butler.
14 Butthink on me when it shall bewell with thee, andshewkindness, I pray thee, unto me, and makemention of me untoPharaoh, and bringme out of this house:
15 For indeed I was stolenaway out of theland of theHebrews: and here also have Idonenothing that they shouldput me into the dungeon.
16 When thechiefbakersaw that theinterpretation wasgood, hesaid untoJoseph, Ialso was in mydream, and, behold, I hadthreewhitebaskets on my head:
17 And in theuppermostbasket there was of allmanner ofbakemeats forPharaoh; and thebirds dideat them out of thebasketupon my head.
18 AndJosephanswered andsaid, This is theinterpretation thereof: Thethreebaskets arethree days:
19 Yet withinthreedays shallPharaoh liftup thyhead from off thee, and shallhang thee on atree; and thebirds shalleat thy flesh from off thee.
20 And it came to pass thethirdday, which wasPharaoh'sbirthday, that hemade afeast unto all hisservants: and he liftedup thehead of thechiefbutler and of thechiefbakeramong his servants.
21 And herestored thechiefbutler unto hisbutlershipagain; and hegave thecup intoPharaoh's hand:
22 But hehanged thechiefbaker: asJoseph had interpreted to them.
23 Yet did not thechiefbutlerrememberJoseph, but forgat him.
