And it came to pass, when they had eatenup thecorn which they had broughtout ofEgypt, theirfathersaid unto them, Goagain, buy us alittle food.
AndJudahspake unto him, saying, Theman didsolemnlyprotest unto us,saying, Ye shall notsee myface, except your brother be with you.
If thouwiltsend ourbrother with us, we will godown andbuy thee food:
But if thou wilt notsend him, we will not godown: for themansaid unto us, Ye shall notsee myface, except your brother be with you.
AndIsraelsaid, Wherefore dealt ye soill with me, as totell theman whether ye had yet a brother?
And theysaid, Themanasked usstraitly of our state, and of ourkindred, saying, Is yourfather yetalive? haveye anotherbrother? and wetold himaccording to thetenor of thesewords: could wecertainlyknow that he wouldsay,Bring yourbrother down?
AndJudahsaid untoIsrael hisfather,Send thelad with me, and we willarise andgo; that we maylive, and notdie, both we, and thou, and also our little ones.
I will besurety for him; of myhand shalt thourequire him:if Ibring himnot unto thee, andset him beforethee, then let me bear theblame for ever:
Forexcept we hadlingered, surely now we hadreturned this second time.
And theirfatherIsraelsaid unto them, If it must be sonow,do this;take of the bestfruits in theland in yourvessels, and carrydown theman apresent, alittlebalm, and alittlehoney, spices, andmyrrh, nuts, and almonds:
Andtakedoublemoney in yourhand; and themoney that was broughtagain in themouth of yoursacks, carry itagain in yourhand; peradventure it was an oversight:
Take also yourbrother, andarise, goagain unto the man:
AndGodAlmightygive youmercybefore theman, that he may sendaway yourotherbrother, andBenjamin. If I bebereaved of my children, I am bereaved.
And thementookthatpresent, and theytookdoublemoney in theirhand, andBenjamin; and roseup, and wentdown toEgypt, andstoodbefore Joseph.
And whenJosephsawBenjaminwith them, hesaid to the ruler of hishouse,Bring thesemenhome, andslay, and makeready; for thesemen shalldine with me at noon.
And themandid asJosephbade; and themanbrought themen intoJoseph's house.
And themen wereafraid, because they werebrought intoJoseph'shouse; and theysaid,Because of themoney that wasreturned in oursacks at the firsttime are we broughtin; that he may seekoccasion against us, andfall upon us, andtake us forbondmen, and our asses.
And they camenear to thesteward ofJoseph'shouse, and theycommuned with him at thedoor of the house,
Andsaid,Osir, we cameindeeddown at the firsttime tobuy food:
And it came to pass, when wecame to theinn, that weopened oursacks, and, behold, everyman'smoney was in themouth of hissack, ourmoney in fullweight: and we have brought itagain in our hand.
Andothermoney have we broughtdown in ourhands tobuyfood: we cannottell whoput ourmoney in our sacks.
And hesaid,Peace be to you, fear not: yourGod, and theGod of yourfather, hathgiven youtreasure in yoursacks: Ihad yourmoney. And hebrought Simeon out unto them.
And themanbrought themen intoJoseph'shouse, andgave themwater, and theywashed theirfeet; and hegave theirasses provender.
And they madeready thepresentagainstJosephcame atnoon: for theyheard that they shouldeat bread there.
And whenJosephcamehome, theybrought him thepresent which was in theirhand into thehouse, andbowed themselves to him to the earth.
And heasked them of theirwelfare, andsaid, Is yourfatherwell, the oldman of whom yespake? Is he yet alive?
And theyanswered, Thyservant ourfather is in goodhealth, he is yetalive. And they bowed down theirheads, and made obeisance.
And he liftedup hiseyes, andsaw hisbrotherBenjamin, hismother'sson, andsaid, Is this youryoungerbrother, of whom yespake unto me? And hesaid,God begracious unto thee, my son.
AndJoseph madehaste; for hisbowels didyearn upon hisbrother: and hesought where toweep; and heentered into hischamber, and wept there.
And hewashed hisface, and wentout, andrefrained himself, andsaid, Seton bread.
And they seton for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for theEgyptians, which dideat with him, by themselves: because theEgyptiansmight noteatbread with theHebrews; for that is anabomination unto the Egyptians.
And theysat beforehim, thefirstborn according to hisbirthright, and theyoungest according to hisyouth: and themenmarvelledone at another.
And hetook and sentmesses unto them from beforehim: butBenjamin'smess wasfivetimes so muchas any of theirs. And theydrank, and were merry with him.
