AndJosephfell upon hisfather'sface, andwept upon him, and kissed him.
2 AndJosephcommanded hisservants thephysicians toembalm hisfather: and thephysiciansembalmed Israel.
3 Andfortydays werefulfilled for him; for so arefulfilled thedays of those which areembalmed: and theEgyptiansmourned for him threescore andten days.
4 And when thedays of hismourning werepast,Josephspake unto thehouse ofPharaoh,saying, If now I havefoundgrace in youreyes,speak, I pray you, in theears ofPharaoh, saying,
5 Myfather made meswear,saying,Lo, Idie: in mygrave which I havedigged for me in theland ofCanaan, there shalt thou buryme. Now therefore let me goup, I pray thee, andbury myfather, and I will come again.
6 AndPharaohsaid, Goup, andbury thyfather, according as he made thee swear.
7 AndJoseph wentup tobury hisfather: and with him wentup all theservants ofPharaoh, theelders of hishouse, and all theelders of theland of Egypt,
8 And all thehouse ofJoseph, and hisbrethren, and hisfather'shouse: only their littleones, and theirflocks, and theirherds, theyleft in theland of Goshen.
9 And there wentup with him bothchariots andhorsemen: and it was averygreat company.
10 And theycame to thethreshingfloor ofAtad, which isbeyondJordan, and there theymourned with agreat andverysorelamentation: and hemade amourning for hisfatherseven days.
11 And when theinhabitants of theland, theCanaanites,saw themourning in thefloor ofAtad, theysaid, This is agrievousmourning to theEgyptians: wherefore the name ofit wascalledAbelmizraim, which isbeyond Jordan.
12 And hissonsdid unto him according as he commanded them:
13 For hissonscarried him into theland ofCanaan, andburied him in thecave of thefield ofMachpelah, whichAbrahambought with thefield for apossession of aburyingplace ofEphron theHittite,before Mamre.
14 AndJosephreturned intoEgypt, he, and hisbrethren, and all that wentup with him tobury hisfather,after he hadburied his father.
15 And whenJoseph'sbrethrensaw that theirfather wasdead, theysaid,Joseph willperadventure hateus, and willcertainlyrequite us all theevil which we did unto him.
16 And they sent amessenger untoJoseph,saying, Thyfather didcommandbefore hedied, saying,
17 So shall yesay untoJoseph,Forgive, I praythee now, thetrespass of thybrethren, and theirsin; for theydid unto theeevil: and now, we pray thee,forgive thetrespass of theservants of theGod of thyfather. AndJosephwept when they spake unto him.
18 And hisbrethren alsowent and felldown before hisface; and theysaid, Behold, we be thy servants.
19 AndJosephsaid unto them,Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
20 But as for you, yethoughtevil against me; butGod meantit untogood,to bring topass, as it is thisday, tosavemuchpeople alive.
21 Now thereforefear ye not: I willnourish you, and your littleones. And hecomforted them, andspake kindly unto them.
22 AndJosephdwelt inEgypt, he, and hisfather'shouse: andJosephlived anhundred andten years.
23 AndJosephsawEphraim'schildren of thethird generation: thechildren also ofMachir theson ofManasseh were broughtup uponJoseph's knees.
24 AndJosephsaid unto hisbrethren, Idie: andGod willsurelyvisit you, and bring youout of thisland unto theland which hesware toAbraham, toIsaac, and to Jacob.
25 AndJoseph took anoath of thechildren ofIsrael,saying,God willsurelyvisit you, and ye shall carryup mybones from hence.
26 SoJosephdied, being anhundred andtenyearsold: and theyembalmed him, and he wasput in acoffin in Egypt.
