Ephraimfeedeth onwind, andfolloweth after the eastwind: hedailyincreasethlies anddesolation; and they domake acovenant with theAssyrians, andoil iscarried into Egypt.
2 TheLORD hath also acontroversy withJudah, and willpunishJacob according to hisways; according to hisdoings will he recompense him.
3 He took hisbrother by theheel in thewomb, and by hisstrength he hadpower with God:
4 Yea, he hadpower over theangel, andprevailed: hewept, and madesupplication unto him: hefound him inBethel, and there he spake with us;
5 Even theLORDGod ofhosts; theLORD is his memorial.
6 Thereforeturn thou to thyGod:keepmercy andjudgment, andwait on thyGod continually.
7 He is amerchant, thebalances ofdeceit are in hishand: heloveth to oppress.
8 AndEphraimsaid, Yet I am becomerich, I have found meoutsubstance: in all mylabours they shallfind noneiniquity in me that were sin.
9 And I that am theLORD thyGod from theland ofEgypt will yet make thee todwell intabernacles, as in thedays of the solemn feast.
10 I have alsospoken by theprophets, and I havemultipliedvisions, and usedsimilitudes, by theministry of the prophets.
11 Is thereiniquity inGilead? surely they arevanity: theysacrificebullocks inGilgal; yea, theiraltars are asheaps in thefurrows of the fields.
12 AndJacobfled into thecountry ofSyria, andIsraelserved for awife, and for awife he kept sheep.
13 And by aprophet theLORDbroughtIsrael out ofEgypt, and by aprophet was he preserved.
14Ephraim provoked him toanger mostbitterly: therefore shall heleave hisblood upon him, and hisreproach shall hisLord return unto him.
