Hosea
Chapter 13
KJV · Textus Receptus
WhenEphraimspaketrembling, heexalted himself inIsrael; but when heoffended inBaal, he died.
2 And now theysin more andmore, and havemade them moltenimages of theirsilver, andidols according to their ownunderstanding, all of it thework of thecraftsmen: theysay of them, Let themen thatsacrificekiss the calves.
3 Therefore they shall be as themorningcloud, and as theearlydew that passethaway, as thechaff that is driven with thewhirlwind out of thefloor, and as thesmoke out of the chimney.
4 Yet I am theLORD thyGod from theland ofEgypt, and thou shaltknow nogod butme: for there is nosaviour beside me.
5 I didknow thee in thewilderness, in theland of great drought.
6 According to theirpasture, so were theyfilled; they werefilled, and theirheart wasexalted; therefore have they forgotten me.
7 Therefore I will be unto them as alion: as aleopard by theway will I observe them:
8 I willmeet them as abear that isbereaved of her whelps, and willrend thecaul of theirheart, and there will Idevour them like alion: thewildbeast shall tear them.
9 OIsrael, thou hastdestroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.
10 Iwill be thyking:where is any other that maysave thee in all thycities? and thyjudges of whom thousaidst,Give me aking and princes?
11 Igave thee aking in mineanger, andtook him away in my wrath.
12 Theiniquity ofEphraim is boundup; hissin is hid.
13 Thesorrows of a travailingwoman shallcome upon him: he is anunwiseson; for he should notstaylong in the place of the breakingforth of children.
14 I willransom them from thepower of thegrave; I willredeem them fromdeath: Odeath, Iwill be thyplagues; Ograve, Iwill be thydestruction:repentance shall behid from mine eyes.
15 Though he befruitful among hisbrethren, an eastwind shallcome, thewind of theLORD shall comeup from thewilderness, and hisspring shall becomedry, and hisfountain shall be driedup: he shallspoil thetreasure of allpleasant vessels.
16Samaria shall becomedesolate; for she hathrebelled against herGod: they shallfall by thesword: theirinfants shall be dashed inpieces, and their women withchild shall be ripped up.
