Set thetrumpet to thymouth. He shall come as aneagle against thehouse of theLORD, because they havetransgressed mycovenant, andtrespassed against my law.
Israel shallcry unto me, MyGod, we know thee.
Israel hath castoff the thing that isgood: theenemy shall pursue him.
They have set upkings, but not by me: they have madeprinces, and Iknew it not: of theirsilver and theirgold have theymade themidols, that they may be cut off.
Thycalf, OSamaria, hathcast thee off; mineanger iskindled against them: how long will it beere theyattain to innocency?
For fromIsrael was it also: theworkmanmade it; therefore it is notGod: but thecalf ofSamaria shall be broken in pieces.
For they havesown thewind, and they shallreap thewhirlwind: it hath nostalk: thebud shallyield nomeal:if so be ityield, thestrangers shall swallow it up.
Israel is swallowedup: now shall they be among theGentiles as avessel wherein is no pleasure.
For they are goneup toAssyria, a wildassalone by himself:Ephraim hathhired lovers.
Yea, though they havehired among thenations, now will Igather them, and they shallsorrow alittle for theburden of theking of princes.
BecauseEphraim hath mademanyaltars tosin, altars shall be unto him to sin.
I havewritten to him the greatthings of mylaw, but they werecounted as a strange thing.
Theysacrificeflesh for thesacrifices of mineofferings, andeat it; but theLORDaccepteth them not; now will heremember theiriniquity, andvisit theirsins: they shallreturn to Egypt.
ForIsrael hathforgotten hisMaker, andbuildethtemples; andJudah hathmultipliedfencedcities: but I willsend afire upon hiscities, and it shalldevour the palaces thereof.
