Chapter 13
KJV · Textus Receptus
Theburden ofBabylon, whichIsaiah theson ofAmoz did see.
Lift yeup abanner upon thehighmountain, exalt thevoice unto them, shake thehand, that they maygo into thegates of the nobles.
I havecommanded my sanctifiedones, I have alsocalled my mightyones for mineanger, even them thatrejoice in my highness.
Thenoise of amultitude in themountains, likeas of agreatpeople; atumultuousnoise of thekingdoms ofnations gatheredtogether: theLORD ofhostsmustereth thehost of the battle.
Theycome from afarcountry, from theend ofheaven, even theLORD, and theweapons of hisindignation, todestroy the whole land.
Howl ye; for theday of theLORD is athand; it shallcome as adestruction from the Almighty.
Therefore shall allhands befaint, and everyman'sheart shall melt:
And they shall beafraid:pangs andsorrows shall takehold of them; they shall be inpain as a woman thattravaileth: they shall beamazedone atanother; theirfaces shall be as flames.
Behold, theday of theLORDcometh, cruel both withwrath andfierceanger, tolay thelanddesolate: and he shalldestroy the sinners thereof out of it.
For thestars ofheaven and theconstellations thereof shall notgive theirlight: thesun shall bedarkened in his goingforth, and themoon shall not cause herlight to shine.
And I willpunish theworld for theirevil, and thewicked for theiriniquity; and I will cause thearrogancy of theproud tocease, and will laylow thehaughtiness of the terrible.
I will make aman moreprecious than finegold; even aman than the goldenwedge of Ophir.
Therefore I willshake theheavens, and theearth shallremove out of herplace, in thewrath of theLORD ofhosts, and in theday of hisfierce anger.
And it shall be as thechasedroe, and as asheep that no man takethup: they shall everymanturn to his ownpeople, andflee everyone into his own land.
Every one that isfound shall be thrustthrough; and every one that isjoined unto them shallfall by the sword.
Theirchildren also shall be dashed topieces before theireyes; theirhouses shall bespoiled, and theirwivesravished.
Behold, I will stirup theMedes against them, which shall notregardsilver; and as forgold, they shall not delight in it.
Theirbows also shalldash the youngmen topieces; and they shall have nopity on thefruit of thewomb; theireye shall notspare children.
AndBabylon, theglory ofkingdoms, thebeauty of theChaldees'excellency, shall be as whenGodoverthrewSodom and Gomorrah.
It shallnever beinhabited, neither shall it bedwelt in fromgeneration togeneration: neither shall theArabian pitchtent there; neither shall theshepherds make their fold there.
But wild beasts of thedesert shalllie there; and theirhouses shall befull of dolefulcreatures; andowls shalldwell there, andsatyrs shall dance there.
And the wild beasts of theislands shallcry in their desolatehouses, anddragons in theirpleasantpalaces: and hertime isnear tocome, and herdays shall not be prolonged.
