In theyear thatTartancame untoAshdod, (whenSargon theking ofAssyriasent him,) andfought againstAshdod, and took it;
2 At the sametimespake theLORDbyIsaiah theson ofAmoz,saying,Go andloose thesackcloth from off thyloins, and putoff thyshoe from thyfoot. And he didso,walkingnaked and barefoot.
3 And theLORDsaid, Like as myservantIsaiah hathwalkednaked andbarefootthreeyears for asign andwonder uponEgypt and upon Ethiopia;
4 So shall theking ofAssyria leadaway theEgyptiansprisoners, and theEthiopianscaptives,young andold,naked andbarefoot, even with theirbuttocksuncovered, to theshame of Egypt.
5 And they shall beafraid andashamed ofEthiopia theirexpectation, and ofEgypt their glory.
6 And theinhabitant of thisisle shallsay in thatday, Behold,such is ourexpectation, whither weflee forhelp to bedeliveredfrom theking ofAssyria: and how shall we escape?
