Theburden of thevalley ofvision. What aileth theenow, that thou art wholly goneup to the housetops?
2 Thou that artfull ofstirs, atumultuouscity, ajoyouscity: thyslain men are notslain with thesword, nordead in battle.
3 All thyrulers arefledtogether, they arebound by thearchers: all that arefound in thee areboundtogether, which havefled from far.
4 Thereforesaid I, Lookaway from me; I willweepbitterly,labour not tocomfort me, because of thespoiling of thedaughter of my people.
5 For it is aday oftrouble, and of treadingdown, and ofperplexity by theLordGOD ofhosts in thevalley ofvision,breaking down thewalls, and ofcrying to the mountains.
6 AndElambare thequiver withchariots ofmen andhorsemen, andKiruncovered the shield.
7 And it shall come to pass, that thychoicestvalleys shall befull ofchariots, and thehorsemen shallset themselves inarray at the gate.
8 And hediscovered thecovering ofJudah, and thou didstlook in thatday to thearmour of thehouse of the forest.
9 Ye haveseen also thebreaches of thecity ofDavid, that they aremany: and ye gatheredtogether thewaters of thelower pool.
10 And ye havenumbered thehouses ofJerusalem, and thehouses have ye brokendown tofortify the wall.
11 Yemade also aditch between the twowalls for thewater of theoldpool: but ye have notlooked unto themaker thereof, neither hadrespect unto him thatfashioned it long ago.
12 And in thatday did theLordGOD ofhostscall toweeping, and tomourning, and tobaldness, and togirding with sackcloth:
13 And beholdjoy andgladness,slayingoxen, andkillingsheep,eatingflesh, anddrinkingwine: let useat anddrink; for tomorrow we shall die.
14 And it wasrevealed in mineears by theLORD ofhosts, Surely thisiniquity shall not bepurged from you till yedie,saith theLordGOD of hosts.
15 Thussaith theLordGOD ofhosts,Go,get thee unto thistreasurer, even untoShebna, which is over the house, and say,
16 What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed theeout asepulchrehere, as he that heweth himout asepulchre onhigh, and thatgraveth anhabitation for himself in a rock?
17 Behold, theLORD will carry theeaway with amightycaptivity, and willsurely cover thee.
18 He willsurely violentlyturn andtoss thee like aball into alargecountry: there shalt thoudie, and there thechariots of thyglory shall be theshame of thylord's house.
19 And I willdrive thee from thystation, and from thystate shall he pull thee down.
20 And it shall come to pass in thatday, that I willcall myservantEliakim theson of Hilkiah:
21 And I willclothe him with thyrobe, andstrengthen him with thygirdle, and I willcommit thygovernment into hishand: and he shall be afather to theinhabitants ofJerusalem, and to thehouse of Judah.
22 And thekey of thehouse ofDavid will Ilay upon hisshoulder; so he shallopen, and none shallshut; and he shallshut, and none shall open.
23 And I willfasten him as anail in asureplace; and he shall be for agloriousthrone to hisfather's house.
24 And they shallhang upon him all theglory of hisfather'shouse, theoffspring and theissue, allvessels ofsmall quantity, from thevessels ofcups, even to all thevessels of flagons.
25 In thatday,saith theLORD ofhosts, shall thenail that isfastened in thesureplace beremoved, and be cutdown, andfall; and theburden that was upon it shall be cutoff: for theLORD hath spoken it.
