Isaiah
Chapter 64
KJV · Textus Receptus
Oh that thou wouldestrend theheavens, that thou wouldest comedown, that themountains might flowdown at thy presence,
2 As when themeltingfireburneth, thefire causeth thewaters toboil, to make thynameknown to thineadversaries, that thenations maytremble at thy presence!
3 When thoudidst terriblethings which welooked not for, thou camestdown, themountains floweddown at thy presence.
4 For since the beginning of theworld men have notheard, nor perceived by theear, neither hath theeyeseen, OGod,beside thee, what he hathprepared for him that waiteth for him.
5 Thoumeetest him thatrejoiceth andworkethrighteousness, those thatremember thee in thyways: behold, thou artwroth; for we havesinned: in those iscontinuance, and we shall be saved.
6 But we are all as anunclean thing, and all ourrighteousnesses are asfilthyrags; and we all dofade as aleaf; and ouriniquities, like thewind, have taken us away.
7 And there is none thatcalleth upon thyname, that stirrethup himself to takehold of thee: for thou hasthid thyface from us, and hastconsumed us,because of our iniquities.
8 But now, OLORD, thou art ourfather; we are theclay, and thou ourpotter; and we all are thework of thy hand.
9 Be notwroth verysore, OLORD, neitherrememberiniquity forever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.
10 Thyholycities are awilderness,Zion is awilderness,Jerusalem a desolation.
11 Ourholy and ourbeautifulhouse, where ourfatherspraised thee, is burnedup withfire: and all our pleasantthings are laid waste.
12 Wilt thourefrain thyself for these things, OLORD? wilt thou hold thypeace, andafflict us very sore?
