Thewords ofJeremiah theson ofHilkiah, of thepriests that were inAnathoth in theland of Benjamin:
2 To whom theword of theLORD came in thedays ofJosiah theson ofAmonking ofJudah, in thethirteenthyear of his reign.
3 It came also in thedays ofJehoiakim theson ofJosiahking ofJudah, unto theend of theeleventhyear ofZedekiah theson ofJosiahking ofJudah, unto the carryingaway ofJerusalemcaptive in thefifth month.
4 Then theword of theLORD came unto me, saying,
5Before Iformed thee in thebelly Iknew thee; and before thou camestforth out of thewomb Isanctified thee, and Iordained thee aprophet unto the nations.
6 Thensaid I,Ah,LordGOD! behold, Icannotspeak: for I am a child.
7 But theLORDsaid unto me,Say not, I am achild: for thou shaltgo to all that I shallsend thee, and whatsoever Icommand thee thou shalt speak.
8 Be notafraid of theirfaces: for I am with thee todeliver thee,saith the LORD.
9 Then theLORD putforth hishand, andtouched mymouth. And theLORDsaid unto me, Behold, I haveput mywords in thy mouth.
10See, I have thisdayset thee over thenations and over thekingdoms, to rootout, and to pulldown, and todestroy, and to throwdown, tobuild, and to plant.
11 Moreover theword of theLORD came unto me,saying,Jeremiah, whatseest thou? And Isaid, Isee arod of an almond tree.
12 Thensaid theLORD unto me, Thou hastwellseen: for I willhasten myword to perform it.
13 And theword of theLORD came unto me the secondtime,saying, Whatseest thou? And Isaid, Isee aseethingpot; and theface thereof istoward the north.
14 Then theLORDsaid unto me, Out of thenorth anevil shall breakforth upon all theinhabitants of the land.
15 For, lo, I willcall all thefamilies of thekingdoms of thenorth,saith theLORD; and they shallcome, and they shallset everyone histhrone at theentering of thegates ofJerusalem, and against all thewalls thereof roundabout, and against all thecities of Judah.
16 And I willutter myjudgments against themtouching all theirwickedness, who haveforsaken me, and have burnedincense untoothergods, andworshipped theworks of their own hands.
17 Thou therefore girdup thyloins, andarise, andspeak unto them all that Icommand thee: be notdismayed at theirfaces, lest Iconfound thee before them.
18 For, behold,I havemade thee thisday adefencedcity, and anironpillar, andbrasenwalls against the wholeland, against thekings ofJudah, against theprinces thereof, against thepriests thereof, and against thepeople of the land.
19 And they shallfight against thee; but they shall notprevail against thee; for I am with thee,saith theLORD, to deliver thee.
