Chapter 10
KJV · Textus Receptus
Hear ye theword which theLORDspeaketh unto you, Ohouse of Israel:
Thussaith theLORD,Learn not theway of theheathen, and be notdismayed at thesigns ofheaven; for theheathen aredismayed at them.
For thecustoms of thepeople arevain: for onecutteth atree out of theforest, thework of thehands of theworkman, with the axe.
Theydeck it withsilver and withgold; theyfasten it withnails and withhammers, that it move not.
They areupright as the palmtree, butspeak not: they mustneeds beborne, because they cannotgo. Be notafraid of them; for they cannot doevil, neither also is it in them to do good.
Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, OLORD; thou artgreat, and thyname isgreat in might.
Who would notfear thee, OKing ofnations? for to thee doth itappertain: forasmuch as among all thewise men of thenations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
But they arealtogetherbrutish andfoolish: thestock is adoctrine of vanities.
Silver spread intoplates isbrought fromTarshish, andgold fromUphaz, thework of theworkman, and of thehands of thefounder:blue andpurple is theirclothing: they are all thework of cunning men.
But theLORD is thetrueGod, he is thelivingGod, and aneverlastingking: at hiswrath theearth shalltremble, and thenations shall not be able toabide his indignation.
Thus shall yesay unto them, Thegods that havenotmade theheavens and theearth, even they shallperish from theearth, and fromunderthese heavens.
He hathmade theearth by hispower, he hathestablished theworld by hiswisdom, and hath stretchedout theheavens by his discretion.
When heuttereth hisvoice, there is amultitude ofwaters in theheavens, and he causeth thevapours toascend from theends of theearth; hemakethlightnings withrain, and bringethforth thewind out of his treasures.
Everyman isbrutish in hisknowledge: everyfounder isconfounded by the gravenimage: for his moltenimage isfalsehood, and there is no breath in them.
They arevanity, and thework oferrors: in thetime of theirvisitation they shall perish.
Theportion ofJacob is not like them: for he is theformer of all things; andIsrael is therod of hisinheritance: TheLORD ofhosts is his name.
Gatherup thywares out of theland, Oinhabitant of the fortress.
For thussaith theLORD, Behold, I willsling out theinhabitants of theland at thisonce, and willdistress them, that they may find it so.
Woe is me for myhurt! mywound isgrievous: but Isaid,Truly this is agrief, and I must bear it.
Mytabernacle isspoiled, and all mycords arebroken: mychildren are goneforth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretchforth mytent any more, and to setup my curtains.
For thepastors are becomebrutish, and have notsought theLORD: therefore they shall notprosper, and all theirflocks shall be scattered.
Behold, thenoise of thebruit iscome, and agreatcommotion out of thenorthcountry, tomake thecities ofJudahdesolate, and aden of dragons.
OLORD, Iknow that theway ofman is not in himself: it is not inman thatwalketh todirect his steps.
OLORD,correct me, but withjudgment; not in thineanger, lest thou bring me to nothing.
Pourout thyfury upon theheathen thatknow thee not, and upon thefamilies thatcall not on thyname: for they have eatenupJacob, anddevoured him, andconsumed him, and have made hishabitation desolate.
