ThenansweredZophar theNaamathite, and said,
2 Therefore do mythoughts cause me toanswer, and for this I make haste.
3 I haveheard thecheck of myreproach, and thespirit of myunderstanding causeth me to answer.
4Knowest thou not this ofold, sinceman wasplaced upon earth,
5 That thetriumphing of thewicked isshort, and thejoy of thehypocrite but for a moment?
6 Though hisexcellency mountup to theheavens, and hisheadreach unto the clouds;
7 Yet he shallperish forever like his owndung: they which haveseen him shallsay, Where is he?
8 He shall flyaway as adream, and shall not befound: yea, he shall be chasedaway as avision of the night.
9 Theeye also whichsaw him shall see him nomore; neither shall hisplace any more behold him.
10 Hischildren shall seek toplease thepoor, and hishands shallrestore their goods.
11 Hisbones arefull of the sin of hisyouth, which shall liedown with him in the dust.
12 Thoughwickedness besweet in hismouth, though hehide it under his tongue;
13 Though hespare it, andforsake it not; but keep itstillwithin his mouth:
14 Yet hismeat in hisbowels isturned, it is thegall ofasps within him.
15 He hath swalloweddownriches, and he shall vomit them upagain:God shall cast themout of his belly.
16 He shallsuck thepoison ofasps: theviper'stongue shall slay him.
17 He shall notsee therivers, thefloods, thebrooks ofhoney and butter.
18 That which helaboured for shall herestore, and shall not swallow itdown: according to hissubstance shall therestitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein.
19 Because he hathoppressed and hathforsaken thepoor; because he hath violently takenaway anhouse which he builded not;
20 Surely he shall notfeelquietness in hisbelly, he shall notsave of that which he desired.
21 There shall none of hismeat beleft; therefore shall no manlook for his goods.
22 In thefulness of hissufficiency he shall be instraits: everyhand of thewicked shall come upon him.
23 When he is about tofill hisbelly, God shallcast thefury of hiswrath upon him, and shallrain it upon him while he is eating.
24 He shallflee from theironweapon, and thebow ofsteel shall strike him through.
25 It isdrawn, and comethout of thebody; yea, the glitteringsword comethout of hisgall: terrors are upon him.
26 Alldarkness shall behid in his secretplaces: afire notblown shallconsume him; it shall goill with him that isleft in his tabernacle.
27 Theheaven shallreveal hisiniquity; and theearth shall rise up against him.
28 Theincrease of hishouse shalldepart, and his goods shall flowaway in theday of his wrath.
29 This is theportion of awickedman fromGod, and theheritageappointed unto him by God.
