2Hear mywords, O yewise men; and giveear unto me, ye that have knowledge.
3 For theeartriethwords, as themouthtasteth meat.
4 Let uschoose to usjudgment: let usknow among ourselves what is good.
5 ForJob hathsaid, I amrighteous: andGod hath takenaway my judgment.
6 Should Ilie against myright? mywound isincurable without transgression.
7 Whatman is likeJob, who drinkethupscorning like water?
8 Whichgoeth incompany with theworkers ofiniquity, andwalketh withwicked men.
9 For he hathsaid, Itprofiteth aman nothing that he shoulddelight himself with God.
10 Thereforehearken unto me, yemen ofunderstanding: far beit fromGod, that he should dowickedness; and from theAlmighty, that he should commit iniquity.
11 For thework of aman shall herender unto him, and cause everyman tofind according to his ways.
12 Yea,surelyGod will not dowickedly, neither will theAlmightypervert judgment.
13 Who hath given him acharge over theearth? or who hathdisposed the whole world?
14 If heset hisheart upon man, if hegather unto himself hisspirit and his breath;
16 If now thou hastunderstanding,hear this:hearken to thevoice of my words.
17 Shall even he thathatethrightgovern? and wilt thoucondemn him that ismost just?
18 Is it fit tosay to aking, Thou artwicked? and toprinces, Ye are ungodly?
19 How much less to him thataccepteth not thepersons ofprinces, norregardeth therich morethan thepoor? for they all are thework of his hands.
20 In amoment shall theydie, and thepeople shall betroubled atmidnight, and passaway: and themighty shall be takenaway without hand.
21 For hiseyes are upon theways ofman, and heseeth all his goings.
22 There is nodarkness, nor shadow ofdeath, where theworkers ofiniquity may hide themselves.
23 For he will notlay uponman more than right; that he shouldenter intojudgment with God.
24 He shall break inpieces mightymen withoutnumber, andset others in their stead.
25 Therefore heknoweth theirworks, and heoverturneth them in thenight, so that they are destroyed.
26 Hestriketh themas wickedmen in theopen sight of others;
27 Because they turnedback fromhim, and would notconsider any of his ways:
28 So that they cause thecry of thepoor tocome unto him, and heheareth thecry of the afflicted.
29 When he givethquietness, who then can maketrouble? and when hehideth hisface, who then canbehold him? whether it be done against anation, or against aman only:
30 That thehypocritereign not, lest thepeople be ensnared.
31 Surely it is meet to besaid untoGod, I haveborne chastisement, I will not offend any more:
32 That which Iseenotteach thou me: if I havedoneiniquity, I will do no more.
33 Should it be according to thy mind? he willrecompense it, whether thourefuse, or whether thouchoose; and not I: thereforespeak what thou knowest.
34 Letmen ofunderstandingtell me, and let awiseman hearken unto me.
35Job hathspoken withoutknowledge, and hiswords were without wisdom.
36 Mydesire is thatJob may betried unto theend because of hisanswers forwicked men.
37 For headdethrebellion unto hissin, heclappeth his hands among us, andmultiplieth hiswords against God.
