Job
Chapter 36
KJV · Textus Receptus
Elihu alsoproceeded, and said,
Suffer me alittle, and I willshew thee that I have yet tospeak on God's behalf.
I willfetch myknowledge fromafar, and willascriberighteousness to my Maker.
Fortruly mywords shall not befalse: he that isperfect in knowledge is with thee.
Behold,God ismighty, anddespiseth not any: he ismighty instrength and wisdom.
He preserveth not thelife of thewicked: butgivethright to the poor.
Hewithdraweth not hiseyes from therighteous: but withkings are they on thethrone; yea, he dothestablish them forever, and they are exalted.
And if they bebound infetters, and beholden incords of affliction;
Then hesheweth them theirwork, and theirtransgressions that they have exceeded.
Heopeneth also theirear todiscipline, andcommandeth that theyreturn from iniquity.
If theyobey andserve him, they shallspend theirdays inprosperity, and theiryears in pleasures.
But if theyobey not, they shallperish by thesword, and they shalldie without knowledge.
But thehypocrites inheart heapupwrath: theycry not when he bindeth them.
Theydie inyouth, and theirlife is among the unclean.
Hedelivereth thepoor in hisaffliction, andopeneth theirears in oppression.
Even so would he haveremoved thee out of thestrait into a broadplace, where there is nostraitness; and that which should beset on thytable should befull of fatness.
But thou hastfulfilled thejudgment of thewicked:judgment andjustice take hold on thee.
Because there iswrath, beware lest he take theeaway with hisstroke: then agreatransom cannot deliver thee.
Will heesteem thyriches? no, notgold, nor all theforces of strength.
Desire not thenight, whenpeople are cut off in their place.
Takeheed, regard notiniquity: for this hast thouchosen rather than affliction.
Behold,Godexalteth by hispower: who teacheth like him?
Who hathenjoined him hisway? or who cansay, Thou hastwrought iniquity?
Remember that thoumagnify hiswork, whichmen behold.
Everyman maysee it;man maybehold it afar off.
Behold,God isgreat, and weknow him not, neither can thenumber of hisyears be searched out.
For he makethsmall thedrops ofwater: they pourdownrain according to the vapour thereof:
Which theclouds dodrop anddistil uponman abundantly.
Also can anyunderstand thespreadings of theclouds, or thenoise of his tabernacle?
Behold, hespreadeth hislight upon it, andcovereth thebottom of the sea.
For by themjudgeth he thepeople; hegivethmeat in abundance.
Withclouds hecovereth thelight; andcommandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.
Thenoise thereofsheweth concerning it, thecattle also concerning the vapour.
