Joshua
Chapter 11
KJV · Textus Receptus
And it came to pass, whenJabinking ofHazor hadheard those things, that hesent toJobabking ofMadon, and to theking ofShimron, and to theking of Achshaph,
And to thekings that were on thenorth of themountains, and of theplainssouth ofChinneroth, and in thevalley, and in theborders ofDor on the west,
And to theCanaanite on theeast and on thewest, and to theAmorite, and theHittite, and thePerizzite, and theJebusite in themountains, and to theHivite underHermon in theland of Mizpeh.
And they wentout, they and all theirhosts with them, muchpeople, even as thesand that is upon theseashore inmultitude, withhorses andchariotsvery many.
And when all thesekings were mettogether, theycame andpitchedtogether at thewaters ofMerom, tofight against Israel.
And theLORDsaid untoJoshua, Be notafraidbecause of them: for tomorrow about thistime will I deliver themup allslainbeforeIsrael: thou shalthough theirhorses, andburn theirchariots with fire.
SoJoshuacame, and all thepeople ofwar with him, against them by thewaters ofMeromsuddenly; and they fell upon them.
And theLORDdelivered them into thehand ofIsrael, whosmote them, andchased them untogreatZidon, and untoMisrephothmaim, and unto thevalley ofMizpeheastward; and theysmote them, until theyleft them none remaining.
AndJoshuadid unto them as theLORDbade him: hehoughed theirhorses, andburnt theirchariots with fire.
AndJoshua at thattime turnedback, andtookHazor, andsmote theking thereof with thesword: forHazorbeforetime was thehead of all those kingdoms.
And theysmote all thesouls that were therein with theedge of thesword, utterlydestroying them: there was not anyleft tobreathe: and heburntHazor with fire.
And all thecities of thosekings, and all thekings of them, didJoshuatake, andsmote them with theedge of thesword, and he utterlydestroyed them, asMoses theservant of theLORD commanded.
But as for thecities thatstood still in theirstrength,Israelburned none of them, saveHazor only; that didJoshua burn.
And all thespoil of thesecities, and thecattle, thechildren ofIsrael took for aprey unto themselves; but everyman theysmote with theedge of thesword, until they haddestroyed them, neitherleft they any to breathe.
As theLORDcommandedMoses hisservant, so didMosescommandJoshua, and sodidJoshua; heleftnothingundone of all that theLORDcommanded Moses.
SoJoshuatook all thatland, thehills, and all the southcountry, and all theland ofGoshen, and thevalley, and theplain, and themountain ofIsrael, and the valley of the same;
Even from themountHalak, that goethup toSeir, even untoBaalgad in thevalley ofLebanon undermountHermon: and all theirkings hetook, andsmote them, and slew them.
Joshuamadewar alongtime with all those kings.
There was not acity that madepeace with thechildren ofIsrael, save theHivites theinhabitants ofGibeon: all other theytook in battle.
For it was of theLORD toharden theirhearts, that they should comeagainstIsrael inbattle, that he might destroy themutterly, and that they might have nofavour, but that he mightdestroy them, as theLORDcommanded Moses.
And at thattimecameJoshua, and cutoff theAnakims from themountains, fromHebron, fromDebir, fromAnab, and from all themountains ofJudah, and from all themountains ofIsrael:Joshua destroyed themutterly with their cities.
There was none of theAnakimsleft in theland of thechildren ofIsrael: only inGaza, inGath, and inAshdod, there remained.
SoJoshuatook the wholeland, according to all that theLORDsaid untoMoses; andJoshuagave it for aninheritance untoIsrael according to theirdivisions by theirtribes. And thelandrested from war.
