And it came to pass alongtimeafter that theLORD had givenrest untoIsrael from all theirenemies roundabout, thatJoshua waxedold andstricken in age.
2 AndJoshuacalled for allIsrael, and for theirelders, and for theirheads, and for theirjudges, and for theirofficers, andsaid unto them, I amold andstricken in age:
3 And ye haveseen all that theLORD yourGod hathdone unto all thesenationsbecause of you; for theLORD yourGod is he that hath fought for you.
4Behold, I havedivided unto you by lot thesenations thatremain, to be aninheritance for yourtribes, fromJordan, with all thenations that I have cutoff, even unto thegreatseawestward.
5 And theLORD yourGod, he shallexpel them frombefore you, anddrive them from out of yoursight; and ye shallpossess theirland, as theLORD yourGod hath promised unto you.
6 Be ye thereforeverycourageous tokeep and todo all that iswritten in thebook of thelaw ofMoses, that yeturn not aside therefrom to the righthand or to the left;
7 That yecome not among thesenations, these thatremain among you; neither makemention of thename of theirgods, nor cause toswear by them, neitherserve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:
8 Butcleave unto theLORD yourGod, as ye havedone unto this day.
9 For theLORD hath drivenout frombefore yougreatnations andstrong: but as for you, noman hath been able tostandbefore you unto this day.
10Oneman of you shallchase athousand: for theLORD yourGod, he it is thatfighteth for you, as he hath promised you.
11 Takegoodheed therefore untoyourselves, that yelove theLORD your God.
12 Else if ye do in anywise goback, andcleave unto theremnant of thesenations, even these thatremain among you, and shall makemarriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:
13Know for acertainty that theLORD yourGod will nomore driveout any of thesenations frombefore you; but they shall besnares andtraps unto you, andscourges in yoursides, andthorns in youreyes, until yeperish from off thisgoodland which theLORD yourGod hath given you.
14 And, behold, thisday I amgoing theway of all theearth: and yeknow in all yourhearts and in all yoursouls, that notonething hathfailed of all thegoodthings which theLORD yourGodspake concerning you; all are come topass unto you, and notonething hath failed thereof.
15 Therefore it shall come to pass, that as allgoodthings arecome upon you, which theLORD yourGodpromised you; so shall theLORDbring upon you allevilthings, until he havedestroyed you from off thisgoodland which theLORD yourGod hath given you.
16 When ye havetransgressed thecovenant of theLORD yourGod, which hecommanded you, and havegone andservedothergods, andbowed yourselves to them; then shall theanger of theLORD bekindled against you, and ye shallperishquickly from off thegoodland which he hath given unto you.
