2 And hejudgedIsraeltwenty andthreeyears, anddied, and wasburied in Shamir.
3 Andafter himaroseJair, aGileadite, andjudgedIsraeltwenty andtwo years.
4 And he hadthirtysons thatrode onthirty asscolts, and they hadthirtycities, which arecalledHavothjair unto thisday, which are in theland of Gilead.
5 AndJairdied, and wasburied in Camon.
6 And thechildren ofIsraeldidevilagain in thesight of theLORD, andservedBaalim, andAshtaroth, and thegods ofSyria, and thegods ofZidon, and thegods ofMoab, and thegods of thechildren ofAmmon, and thegods of thePhilistines, andforsook theLORD, and served not him.
7 And theanger of theLORD washot againstIsrael, and hesold them into thehands of thePhilistines, and into thehands of thechildren of Ammon.
8 And thatyear theyvexed andoppressed thechildren ofIsrael:eighteenyears, all thechildren ofIsrael that were on the othersideJordan in theland of theAmorites, which is in Gilead.
9 Moreover thechildren ofAmmon passedoverJordan tofight also againstJudah, and againstBenjamin, and against thehouse ofEphraim; so thatIsrael wassore distressed.
10 And thechildren ofIsraelcried unto theLORD,saying, We havesinned against thee, both because we haveforsaken ourGod, and alsoserved Baalim.
11 And theLORDsaid unto thechildren ofIsrael, Did not I deliver you from theEgyptians, and from theAmorites, from thechildren ofAmmon, and from the Philistines?
12 TheZidonians also, and theAmalekites, and theMaonites, didoppress you; and yecried to me, and Idelivered you out of their hand.
13 Yet ye haveforsaken me, andservedothergods: wherefore I willdeliver you no more.
14Go andcry unto thegods which ye havechosen; letthemdeliver you in thetime of your tribulation.
15 And thechildren ofIsraelsaid unto theLORD, We havesinned:do thou unto us whatsoeverseemethgood unto thee;deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.
16 And they putaway thestrangegods fromamong them, andserved theLORD: and hissoul wasgrieved for themisery of Israel.
17 Then thechildren ofAmmon were gatheredtogether, andencamped inGilead. And thechildren ofIsrael assembled themselvestogether, andencamped in Mizpeh.
18 And thepeople andprinces ofGileadsaidone toanother, Whatman is he that willbegin tofight against thechildren ofAmmon? he shall behead over all theinhabitants of Gilead.
