AndSamsonsaid concerning them,Now shall I be moreblameless than thePhilistines, though Ido them a displeasure.
And when he hadset thebrands onfire, he let themgo into the standingcorn of thePhilistines, and burntup both theshocks, and also the standingcorn, with thevineyards and olives.
Then thePhilistinessaid, Who hathdone this? And theyanswered,Samson, the son inlaw of theTimnite, because he hadtaken hiswife, andgiven her to hiscompanion. And thePhilistines cameup, andburnt her and herfather with fire.
AndSamsonsaid unto them,Though ye havedonethis, yet will I beavenged of you, andafter that I will cease.
And hesmote themhipandthigh with agreatslaughter: and he wentdown anddwelt in thetop of therock Etam.
Then thePhilistines wentup, andpitched inJudah, andspread themselves in Lehi.
And themen ofJudahsaid, Why are ye comeup against us? And theyanswered, TobindSamson are we comeup, todo to him as he hath done to us.
Thenthreethousandmen ofJudahwent to thetop of therockEtam, andsaid toSamson,Knowest thou not that thePhilistines arerulers over us? what is this that thou hastdone unto us? And hesaid unto them, As theydid unto me, so have I done unto them.
And theysaid unto him, We are comedown tobind thee, that we maydeliver thee into thehand of thePhilistines. AndSamsonsaid unto them,Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.
And theyspake unto him, saying, No; but we willbind theefast, anddeliver thee into theirhand: butsurely we will notkill thee. And theybound him withtwonewcords, and brought himup from the rock.
And when hecame untoLehi, thePhilistinesshoutedagainst him: and theSpirit of theLORD camemightily upon him, and thecords that were upon hisarms became asflax that wasburnt withfire, and hisbandsloosed from off his hands.
And hefound anewjawbone of anass, and putforth hishand, andtook it, andslew athousand men therewith.
AndSamsonsaid, With thejawbone of anass, heaps uponheaps, with thejaw of anass have Islain athousand men.
And it came to pass, when he had made anend ofspeaking, that he castaway thejawbone out of hishand, andcalled thatplace Ramathlehi.
And he wassoreathirst, andcalled on theLORD, andsaid, Thou hastgiven thisgreatdeliverance into thehand of thyservant: and now shall Idie forthirst, andfall into thehand of the uncircumcised?
ButGodclave an hollowplace that was in thejaw, and therecamewater thereout; and when he haddrunk, hisspirit cameagain, and herevived: wherefore hecalled thename thereofEnhakkore, which is inLehi unto this day.
