And now, O yepriests, this commandment is for you.
2 If ye will nothear, and if ye will notlay it toheart, togiveglory unto myname,saith theLORD ofhosts, I will evensend acurse upon you, and I willcurse yourblessings: yea, I havecursed them already, because ye do notlay it to heart.
3 Behold, I willcorrupt yourseed, andspreaddung upon yourfaces, even thedung of your solemnfeasts; and one shall take you away with it.
4 And ye shallknow that I havesent thiscommandment unto you, that mycovenant might be withLevi,saith theLORD of hosts.
5 Mycovenant was with him oflife andpeace; and Igave them to him for thefear wherewith hefeared me, and wasafraidbefore my name.
6 Thelaw oftruth was in hismouth, andiniquity was notfound in hislips: hewalked with me inpeace andequity, and didturnmanyaway from iniquity.
7 For thepriest'slips shouldkeepknowledge, and they shouldseek thelaw at hismouth: for he is themessenger of theLORD of hosts.
8 But ye aredeparted out of theway; ye have causedmany tostumble at thelaw; ye havecorrupted thecovenant ofLevi,saith theLORD of hosts.
9 Therefore have I alsomade youcontemptible andbase before all thepeople,according as ye have notkept myways, but have beenpartial in the law.
10 Have we not allonefather? hath notoneGodcreated us? why do we dealtreacherously everyman against hisbrother, byprofaning thecovenant of our fathers?
11Judah hath dealttreacherously, and anabomination iscommitted inIsrael and inJerusalem; forJudah hathprofaned theholiness of theLORD which heloved, and hathmarried thedaughter of astrange god.
12 TheLORD will cutoff theman thatdoeth this, themaster and thescholar, out of thetabernacles ofJacob, and him thatoffereth anoffering unto theLORD of hosts.
13 And this have yedoneagain,covering thealtar of theLORD withtears, withweeping, and with cryingout, insomuch that heregardeth not theoffering any more, orreceiveth it with goodwill at your hand.
14 Yet yesay,Wherefore? Because theLORD hath beenwitness between thee and thewife of thyyouth, against whom thou hast dealttreacherously: yet is she thycompanion, and thewife of thy covenant.
15 And did not hemakeone? Yet had he theresidue of thespirit. And whereforeone? That he mightseek agodlyseed. Therefore takeheed to yourspirit, and let none dealtreacherously against thewife of his youth.
16 For theLORD, theGod ofIsrael,saith that hehateth puttingaway: for onecoverethviolence with hisgarment,saith theLORD ofhosts: therefore takeheed to yourspirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
17 Ye havewearied theLORD with yourwords. Yet yesay, Wherein have wewearied him? When yesay, Every one thatdoethevil isgood in thesight of theLORD, and hedelighteth in them; or, Where is theGod of judgment?
