2 And they roseupbeforeMoses, withcertain of thechildren ofIsrael, twohundred andfiftyprinces of theassembly,famous in thecongregation,men of renown:
3 And they gathered themselvestogether againstMoses and againstAaron, andsaid unto them, Ye take toomuch upon you, seeing all thecongregation areholy, every one of them, and theLORD isamong them: wherefore then lift yeup yourselves above thecongregation of the LORD?
4 And whenMosesheard it, hefell upon his face:
5 And hespake untoKorah and unto all hiscompany,saying, Even tomorrow theLORD willshew who are his, and who isholy; and will cause him to comenear unto him: even him whom he hathchosen will he cause to come near unto him.
6 Thisdo;Take youcensers,Korah, and all his company;
7 Andputfiretherein, andputincense in thembefore theLORD tomorrow: and it shall be that theman whom theLORD dothchoose, he shall beholy: ye take toomuch upon you, yesons of Levi.
8 AndMosessaid untoKorah,Hear, I pray you, yesons of Levi:
9 Seemeth it but a smallthing unto you, that theGod ofIsrael hathseparated you from thecongregation ofIsrael, to bring younear to himself todo theservice of thetabernacle of theLORD, and tostandbefore thecongregation to minister unto them?
10 And he hath brought theenear to him, and all thybrethren thesons ofLevi with thee: andseek ye the priesthood also?
11 For whichcause both thou and all thycompany are gatheredtogether against theLORD: and what isAaron, that yemurmur against him?
12 AndMosessent tocallDathan andAbiram, thesons ofEliab: whichsaid, We will not come up:
13 Is it a smallthingthat thou hast brought usup out of aland thatfloweth withmilk andhoney, tokill us in thewilderness, except thoumake thyselfaltogether a prince over us?
14Moreover thou hast notbrought us into aland thatfloweth withmilk andhoney, orgiven usinheritance offields andvineyards: wilt thou putout theeyes of thesemen? we will not come up.
15 AndMoses wasverywroth, andsaid unto theLORD,Respect not thou theiroffering: I have nottakenoneass from them, neither have Ihurt one of them.
16 AndMosessaid untoKorah, Be thou and all thycompanybefore theLORD, thou, and they, andAaron, to morrow:
17 Andtake everyman hiscenser, andputincense in them, andbring yebefore theLORD everyman hiscenser, twohundred andfiftycensers; thou also, andAaron,each of you his censer.
18 And theytook everyman hiscenser, andputfire in them, andlaidincense thereon, andstood in thedoor of thetabernacle of thecongregation withMoses and Aaron.
19 AndKorahgathered all thecongregation against them unto thedoor of thetabernacle of thecongregation: and theglory of theLORDappeared unto all the congregation.
20 And theLORDspake untoMoses and untoAaron, saying,
21Separate yourselves fromamong thiscongregation, that I mayconsume them in a moment.
22 And theyfell upon theirfaces, andsaid, OGod, theGod of thespirits of allflesh, shallonemansin, and wilt thou bewroth with all the congregation?
23 And theLORDspake untoMoses, saying,
24Speak unto thecongregation,saying, Get youup fromabout thetabernacle ofKorah,Dathan, and Abiram.
25 AndMoses roseup andwent untoDathan andAbiram; and theelders ofIsraelfollowed him.
26 And hespake unto thecongregation,saying,Depart, I pray you, from thetents of thesewickedmen, andtouch nothing of theirs, lest ye beconsumed in all their sins.
27 So they gatup from thetabernacle ofKorah,Dathan, andAbiram, on everyside: andDathan andAbiram cameout, andstood in thedoor of theirtents, and theirwives, and theirsons, and their little children.
28 AndMosessaid, Hereby ye shallknow that theLORD hathsent me todo all theseworks; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
29 If these mendie the commondeath of allmen, or if they bevisited after thevisitation of allmen; then theLORD hath not sent me.
30 But if theLORDmake a newthing, and theearthopen hermouth, and swallow themup, with all that appertain unto them, and they godownquick into thepit; then ye shallunderstand that thesemen haveprovoked the LORD.
31 And it came to pass, as he had made anend ofspeaking all thesewords, that theground clave asunder that was under them:
32 And theearthopened hermouth, and swallowed themup, and theirhouses, and all themen that appertained untoKorah, and all their goods.
33 They, and all that appertained to them, wentdownalive into thepit, and theearthclosed upon them: and theyperished fromamong the congregation.
34 And allIsrael that were roundabout themfled at thecry of them: for theysaid, Lest theearth swallow us up also.
35 And there cameout afire from theLORD, andconsumed the twohundred andfiftymen thatoffered incense.
36 And theLORDspake untoMoses, saying,
37Speak untoEleazar theson ofAaron thepriest, that he takeup thecensersout of theburning, andscatter thou thefireyonder; for they are hallowed.
38 Thecensers of thesesinners against their ownsouls, let themmake thembroadplates for acovering of thealtar: for theyoffered thembefore theLORD, therefore they arehallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
39And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar:
40To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses.
41But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the LORD.
42And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.
43And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.
44And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
45Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.
46And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun.
47And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.
48And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
49Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah.
50And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.
