Chapter 24
KJV · Textus Receptus
Be not thouenvious againstevilmen, neither desire to be with them.
For theirheartstudiethdestruction, and theirlipstalk of mischief.
Throughwisdom is anhousebuilded; and byunderstanding it is established:
And byknowledge shall thechambers befilled with allprecious andpleasant riches.
Awiseman isstrong; yea, aman ofknowledgeincreaseth strength.
For by wisecounsel thou shaltmake thywar: and inmultitude ofcounsellors there is safety.
Wisdom is toohigh for afool: heopeneth not hismouth in the gate.
He thatdeviseth to doevil shall becalled amischievous person.
Thethought offoolishness issin: and thescorner is anabomination to men.
If thoufaint in theday ofadversity, thystrength is small.
If thouforbear todeliver them that aredrawn untodeath, and those that areready to be slain;
If thousayest, Behold, weknew it not; doth not he thatpondereth theheartconsider it? and he thatkeepeth thysoul, doth not heknow it? and shall not herender to everyman according to his works?
Myson,eat thouhoney, because it isgood; and thehoneycomb, which issweet to thy taste:
So shall theknowledge ofwisdom be unto thysoul: when thou hastfound it, then there shallbe areward, and thyexpectation shall not be cut off.
Lay notwait, Owicked man, against thedwelling of therighteous;spoil not his resting place:
For ajust manfalleth seventimes, and riseth upagain: but thewicked shallfall into mischief.
Rejoice not when thineenemyfalleth, and let not thineheart beglad when he stumbleth:
Lest theLORDsee it, and itdisplease him, and he turnaway his wrath from him.
Fret not thyself because ofevil men, neither be thouenvious at the wicked;
For there shall be noreward to theevil man; thecandle of thewicked shall be put out.
Myson,fear thou theLORD and theking: andmeddle not with them that are given to change:
For theircalamity shallrisesuddenly; and whoknoweth theruin of them both?
These things also belong to thewise. It is notgood to haverespect ofpersons in judgment.
He thatsaith unto thewicked, Thou artrighteous; him shall thepeoplecurse,nations shall abhor him:
But to them thatrebuke him shall bedelight, and agoodblessing shall come upon them.
Every man shallkiss hislips thatgiveth aright answer.
Prepare thyworkwithout, and make itfit for thyself in thefield; andafterwardsbuild thine house.
Be not awitness against thyneighbour withoutcause; anddeceive not with thy lips.
Say not, I willdo so to him as he hathdone to me: I willrender to theman according to his work.
Iwent by thefield of theslothful, and by thevineyard of themanvoid of understanding;
And, lo, it was all grownover withthorns, andnettles hadcovered theface thereof, and thestonewall thereof was broken down.
Then Isaw, and considered itwell: Ilooked upon it, andreceived instruction.
Yet alittlesleep, alittleslumber, alittlefolding of thehands to sleep:
So shall thypovertycome as one thattravelleth; and thywant as anarmed man.
