KJV · Textus Receptus
[To the chiefMusician, A Psalm ofDavid, theservant of theLORD, whospake unto theLORD thewords of thissong in theday that theLORDdelivered him from thehand of all hisenemies, and from thehand ofSaul: And hesaid,] I willlove thee, OLORD, my strength.
TheLORD is myrock, and myfortress, and mydeliverer; myGod, mystrength, in whom I willtrust; mybuckler, and thehorn of mysalvation, and my high tower.
I willcall upon theLORD, who is worthy to bepraised: so shall I besaved from mine enemies.
Thesorrows ofdeathcompassed me, and thefloods of ungodlymen made me afraid.
In mydistress Icalled upon theLORD, andcried unto myGod: heheard myvoice out of histemple, and mycrycamebefore him, even into his ears.
Then theearthshook andtrembled; thefoundations also of thehillsmoved and wereshaken, because he was wroth.
There wentup asmoke out of hisnostrils, andfire out of hismouthdevoured:coals were kindled by it.
Hebowed theheavens also, and camedown: anddarkness was under his feet.
And herode upon acherub, and didfly: yea, he didfly upon thewings of the wind.
Hemadedarkness his secretplace; hispavilion roundabout him weredarkwaters and thickclouds of the skies.
At thebrightness that was before him his thickcloudspassed, hail stones andcoals of fire.
TheLORD alsothundered in theheavens, and theHighestgave hisvoice;hail stones andcoals of fire.
Yea, he sentout hisarrows, andscattered them; and he shotoutlightnings, and discomfited them.
Then thechannels ofwaters wereseen, and thefoundations of theworld werediscovered at thyrebuke, OLORD, at theblast of thebreath of thy nostrils.
Hesent fromabove, hetook me, hedrew me out ofmany waters.
Hedelivered me from mystrongenemy, and from them whichhated me: for they were too strong for me.
Theyprevented me in theday of mycalamity: but theLORD was my stay.
He brought meforth also into a largeplace; hedelivered me, because he delighted in me.
TheLORDrewarded me according to myrighteousness; according to thecleanness of myhands hath he recompensed me.
For I havekept theways of theLORD, and have not wickedlydeparted from my God.
For all hisjudgments were before me, and I did not putaway his statutes from me.
I was alsoupright before him, and Ikept myself from mine iniquity.
Therefore hath theLORDrecompensed me according to myrighteousness, according to thecleanness of myhands in his eyesight.
With themerciful thou wilt shew thyselfmerciful; with anuprightman thou wilt shew thyself upright;
With thepure thou wilt shew thyselfpure; and with thefroward thou wilt shew thyself froward.
For thou wiltsave theafflictedpeople; but wilt bringdownhigh looks.
For thou wiltlight mycandle: theLORD myGod willenlighten my darkness.
For by thee I have runthrough atroop; and by myGod have I leapedover a wall.
As forGod, hisway isperfect: theword of theLORD istried: he is abuckler to all those that trust in him.
For who isGodsave theLORD? or who is arocksave our God?
It isGod thatgirdeth me withstrength, andmaketh myway perfect.
Hemaketh myfeet likehinds' feet, andsetteth me upon my high places.
Heteacheth myhands towar, so that abow ofsteel isbroken by mine arms.
Thou hast alsogiven me theshield of thysalvation: and thy righthand hath holden meup, and thygentleness hath made me great.
Thou hastenlarged mysteps under me, that myfeet did not slip.
I havepursued mineenemies, andovertaken them: neither did I turnagain till they were consumed.
I havewounded them that they were notable torise: they arefallen under my feet.
For thou hastgirded me withstrength unto thebattle: thou hastsubdued under me those that rose up against me.
Thou hast alsogiven me thenecks of mineenemies; that I mightdestroy them that hate me.
Theycried, but there was none tosave them: even unto theLORD, but he answered them not.
Then did Ibeat them small as thedustbefore thewind: I did cast themout as thedirt in the streets.
Thou hastdelivered me from thestrivings of thepeople; and thou hastmade me thehead of theheathen: apeople whom I have notknown shall serve me.
As soon as theyhear of me, they shallobey me: thestrangers shall submit themselves unto me.
Thestrangers shall fadeaway, and beafraid out of their close places.
TheLORDliveth; andblessed be myrock; and let theGod of mysalvation be exalted.
It isGod thatavengeth me, andsubdueth the people under me.
Hedelivereth me from mineenemies: yea, thou liftest meup above those that riseup against me: thou hastdelivered me from theviolent man.
Therefore will I givethanks unto thee, OLORD, among theheathen, and singpraises unto thy name.
Greatdeliverance giveth he to hisking; andshewethmercy to hisanointed, toDavid, and to hisseedfor evermore.
