[To the chiefMusician uponAijelethShahar, APsalm ofDavid.] MyGod, myGod, why hast thouforsaken me? why art thou sofar fromhelping me, and from thewords of my roaring?
O myGod, Icry in thedaytime, but thouhearest not; and in the nightseason, and am not silent.
But thou artholy, O thou thatinhabitest thepraises of Israel.
Ourfatherstrusted in thee: theytrusted, and thou didst deliver them.
Theycried unto thee, and weredelivered: theytrusted in thee, and were not confounded.
But I am aworm, and noman; areproach ofmen, anddespised of the people.
All they thatsee me laugh me toscorn: they shootout thelip, theyshake the head, saying,
Hetrusted on theLORD that he woulddeliver him: let himdeliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
But thou art he thattook me out of thewomb: thou didst make mehope when I was upon mymother's breasts.
I wascast upon thee from thewomb: thou art myGod from mymother's belly.
Be notfar from me; fortrouble isnear; for there is none to help.
Manybulls havecompassed me:strong bulls ofBashan have beset me round.
Theygaped upon me with theirmouths, as aravening and aroaring lion.
I am pouredout likewater, and all mybones are out ofjoint: myheart is likewax; it ismelted in themidst of my bowels.
Mystrength is driedup like apotsherd; and mytonguecleaveth to myjaws; and thou hastbrought me into thedust of death.
Fordogs havecompassed me: theassembly of thewicked haveinclosed me: theypierced myhands and my feet.
I maytell all mybones: theylook and stare upon me.
Theypart mygarments among them, andcastlots upon my vesture.
But be not thoufar from me, OLORD: O mystrength, haste thee to help me.
Deliver mysoul from thesword; mydarling from thepower of the dog.
Save me from thelion'smouth: for thou hastheard me from thehorns of the unicorns.
I willdeclare thyname unto mybrethren: in themidst of thecongregation will I praise thee.
Ye thatfear theLORD,praise him; all ye theseed ofJacob, glorify him; andfear him, all ye theseed of Israel.
For he hath notdespised norabhorred theaffliction of theafflicted; neither hath hehid hisface from him; but when hecried unto him, he heard.
Mypraise shall be of thee in thegreatcongregation: I willpay myvows before them that fear him.
Themeek shalleat and besatisfied: they shallpraise theLORD thatseek him: yourheart shalllive for ever.
All theends of theworld shallremember andturn unto theLORD: and all thekindreds of thenations shallworship before thee.
For thekingdom is theLORD'S: and he is thegovernor among the nations.
All they that befat uponearth shalleat andworship: all they that godown to thedust shallbowbefore him: and none can keepalive his own soul.
Aseed shallserve him; it shall beaccounted to theLord for a generation.
They shallcome, and shalldeclare hisrighteousness unto apeople that shall beborn, that he hath done this.
