KJV · Textus Receptus
[A Psalm ofDavid.]Plead my cause, OLORD, with them thatstrive with me:fight against them that fight against me.
Takehold ofshield andbuckler, and standup for mine help.
Drawout also thespear, andstop the wayagainst them thatpersecute me:say unto mysoul, I am thy salvation.
Let them beconfounded and put toshame thatseek after mysoul: let them beturnedback and brought toconfusion thatdevise my hurt.
Let them be aschaffbefore thewind: and let theangel of theLORD chase them.
Let theirway bedark andslippery: and let theangel of theLORD persecute them.
For withoutcause have theyhid for me theirnet in apit, which withoutcause they havedigged for my soul.
Letdestructioncome upon him atunawares; and let hisnet that he hathhidcatch himself: into that verydestruction let him fall.
And mysoul shall bejoyful in theLORD: it shallrejoice in his salvation.
All mybones shallsay,LORD, who is like unto thee, whichdeliverest thepoor from him that is toostrong for him, yea, thepoor and theneedy from him that spoileth him?
Falsewitnesses did riseup; they laid to mycharge things that I knew not.
Theyrewarded meevil forgood to thespoiling of my soul.
But as for me, when they weresick, myclothing wassackcloth: Ihumbled mysoul withfasting; and myprayerreturned into mine own bosom.
Ibehaved myself as though he had been myfriend orbrother: I boweddownheavily, as one thatmourneth for his mother.
But in mineadversity theyrejoiced, and gathered themselvestogether: yea, theabjects gathered themselvestogether against me, and Iknew it not; they didtear me, and ceased not:
Withhypocriticalmockers infeasts, theygnashed upon me with their teeth.
Lord, how long wilt thou lookon?rescue mysoul from theirdestructions, mydarling from the lions.
I will give theethanks in thegreatcongregation: I willpraise thee amongmuch people.
Let not them that are mineenemieswrongfullyrejoice over me: neither let themwink with theeye thathate me without a cause.
For theyspeak notpeace: but theydevisedeceitfulmatters against them that arequiet in the land.
Yea, they opened theirmouthwide against me, andsaid,Aha,aha, oureye hath seen it.
This thou hastseen, OLORD: keep notsilence: OLord, be not far from me.
Stirup thyself, andawake to myjudgment, even unto mycause, myGod and my Lord.
Judge me, OLORD myGod, according to thyrighteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.
Let them notsay in theirhearts,Ah, so would we haveit: let them notsay, We have swallowed him up.
Let them beashamed and brought toconfusiontogether thatrejoice at minehurt: let them beclothed withshame anddishonour that magnify themselves against me.
Let them shout forjoy, and beglad, thatfavour my righteouscause: yea, let themsaycontinually, Let theLORD bemagnified, which hathpleasure in theprosperity of his servant.
And mytongue shallspeak of thyrighteousness and of thypraise all the day long.
