[To the chiefMusician, even toJeduthun, APsalm ofDavid.] Isaid, I will takeheed to myways, that Isin not with mytongue: I willkeep mymouth with abridle, while the wicked is before me.
2 I wasdumb withsilence, I held mypeace, even fromgood; and mysorrow was stirred.
3 Myheart washotwithin me, while I wasmusing thefireburned:thenspake I with my tongue,
4LORD, make me toknow mineend, and themeasure of mydays, what it is; that I mayknow how frail I am.
5 Behold, thou hastmade mydays as anhandbreadth; and mineage is as nothing before thee: verilyeveryman at his beststate isaltogethervanity. Selah.
6 Surely everymanwalketh in a vainshew: surely they aredisquieted invain: he heapethup riches, andknoweth not who shall gather them.
7 And now,Lord, whatwait I for? my hope is in thee.
8Deliver me from all mytransgressions:make me not thereproach of the foolish.
9 I wasdumb, Iopened not mymouth; because thou didst it.
10Remove thystrokeaway from me: I amconsumed by theblow of thine hand.
11 When thou withrebukes dostcorrectman foriniquity, thou makest hisbeauty to consumeaway like amoth: surely everyman isvanity. Selah.
12Hear myprayer, OLORD, and giveear unto mycry; hold not thypeace at mytears: for I am astranger with thee, and asojourner, as all my fathers were.
13 Ospare me, that I may recoverstrength, before I go hence, and be no more.
