[To the chiefMusician, APsalm ofDavid.] Iwaitedpatiently for theLORD; and heinclined unto me, andheard my cry.
2 He brought meup also out of anhorriblepit, out of themiryclay, andset myfeet upon arock, andestablished my goings.
3 And he hathput anewsong in mymouth, evenpraise unto ourGod:many shallsee it, andfear, and shalltrust in the LORD.
4Blessed is thatman thatmaketh theLORD histrust, andrespecteth not theproud, nor such as turnaside to lies.
5Many, OLORD myGod, are thywonderful works which thou hastdone, and thythoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up inorder unto thee: if I woulddeclare andspeak of them, they aremore than can be numbered.
6Sacrifice andoffering thou didst notdesire; mineears hast thouopened: burntoffering and sinoffering hast thou not required.
7 Thensaid I, Lo, Icome: in thevolume of thebook it is written of me,
8 Idelight todo thywill, O myGod: yea, thylaw iswithin my heart.
9 I havepreachedrighteousness in thegreatcongregation: lo, I have notrefrained mylips, OLORD, thou knowest.
10 I have nothid thyrighteousnesswithin myheart; I havedeclared thyfaithfulness and thysalvation: I have notconcealed thylovingkindness and thytruth from thegreat congregation.
11Withhold not thou thy tendermercies from me, OLORD: let thylovingkindness and thytruthcontinually preserve me.
12 Forinnumerableevils havecompassed me about: mineiniquities have takenhold upon me, so that I am notable to lookup; they aremore than thehairs of minehead: therefore myheart faileth me.
13 Bepleased, OLORD, todeliver me: OLORD, makehaste to help me.
14 Let them beashamed andconfoundedtogether thatseek after mysoul todestroy it; let them bedrivenbackward and put toshame thatwish me evil.
15 Let them bedesolate for areward of theirshame thatsay unto me,Aha, aha.
16 Let all those thatseek theerejoice and beglad in thee: let such aslove thysalvationsaycontinually, TheLORD be magnified.
17 But I ampoor andneedy; yet theLordthinketh upon me: thou art myhelp and mydeliverer; make notarrying, O my God.
