KJV · Textus Receptus
[To the chiefMusician for thesons ofKorah,Maschil.] We haveheard with ourears, OGod, ourfathers havetold us, whatwork thoudidst in theirdays, in thetimes of old.
How thou didst driveout theheathen with thyhand, andplantedst them; how thou didstafflict thepeople, and cast them out.
For theygot not theland inpossession by their ownsword, neither did their ownarmsave them: but thy righthand, and thinearm, and thelight of thycountenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
Thou art myKing, OGod:commanddeliverances for Jacob.
Through thee will we pushdown ourenemies: through thyname will we tread themunder that rise up against us.
For I will nottrust in mybow, neither shall mysword save me.
But thou hastsaved us from ourenemies, and hast put them toshame that hated us.
InGod weboast all theday long, andpraise thyname forever. Selah.
But thou hast castoff, and put us toshame; and goest notforth with our armies.
Thou makest us toturnback from theenemy: and they whichhate us spoil for themselves.
Thou hastgiven us likesheep appointed formeat; and hastscattered us among the heathen.
Thousellest thypeople fornought, and dost notincrease thy wealth by their price.
Thoumakest us areproach to ourneighbours, ascorn and aderision to them that are round about us.
Thoumakest us abyword among theheathen, ashaking of thehead among the people.
Myconfusion iscontinually before me, and theshame of myface hath covered me,
For thevoice of him thatreproacheth andblasphemeth; byreason of theenemy and avenger.
All this iscome upon us; yet have we notforgotten thee, neither have we dealtfalsely in thy covenant.
Ourheart is notturnedback, neither have ourstepsdeclined from thy way;
Though thou hast sorebroken us in theplace ofdragons, andcovered us with the shadow of death.
If we haveforgotten thename of ourGod, or stretchedout ourhands to astrange god;
Shall notGod search thisout? for heknoweth thesecrets of the heart.
Yea, for thy sake are wekilled all theday long; we arecounted assheep for the slaughter.
Awake, whysleepest thou, OLord?arise, cast us notoff for ever.
Whereforehidest thou thyface, andforgettest ouraffliction and our oppression?
For oursoul is boweddown to thedust: ourbellycleaveth unto the earth.
Arise for ourhelp, andredeem us for thy mercies' sake.
