[To the chiefMusician uponJonathelemrechokim,Michtam ofDavid, when thePhilistinestook him inGath.] Bemerciful unto me, OGod: forman would swallow meup; hefightingdaily oppresseth me.
Mineenemies woulddailyswallow me up: for they bemany thatfight against me, O thou most High.
Whattime I amafraid, I will trust in thee.
InGod I willpraise hisword, inGod I have put mytrust; I will notfear whatflesh can do unto me.
Everyday theywrest mywords: all theirthoughts are against me for evil.
They gather themselvestogether, theyhide themselves, theymark mysteps, when theywait for my soul.
Shall theyescape byiniquity? in thineanger castdown thepeople, O God.
Thoutellest mywanderings:put thou mytears into thybottle: are they not in thy book?
When Icry unto thee, then shall mineenemiesturnback: this Iknow; for God is for me.
InGod will Ipraise hisword: in theLORD will Ipraise his word.
InGod have I put mytrust: I will not beafraid whatman can do unto me.
Thyvows are upon me, OGod: I willrender praises unto thee.
For thou hastdelivered mysoul fromdeath: wilt not thou deliver myfeet fromfalling, that I maywalkbeforeGod in thelight of the living?
