[To the chiefMusician uponShushaneduth,Michtam ofDavid, toteach; when hestrove withAramnaharaim and withAramzobah, whenJoabreturned, andsmote ofEdom in thevalley ofsalttwelvethousand.] OGod, thou hast cast usoff, thou hastscattered us, thou hast beendispleased; O turn thyself to us again.
2 Thou hast made theearth totremble; thou hastbroken it:heal thebreaches thereof; for it shaketh.
3 Thou hastshewed thypeople hardthings: thou hast made us todrink thewine of astonishment.
4 Thou hastgiven abanner to them thatfear thee, that it may bedisplayedbecause of thetruth. Selah.
5 That thybeloved may bedelivered;save with thy righthand, and hear me.
6God hathspoken in hisholiness; I willrejoice, I willdivideShechem, and meteout thevalley of Succoth.
7Gilead is mine, andManasseh is mine;Ephraim also is thestrength of minehead;Judah is my lawgiver;
8Moab is mywashpot; overEdom will I castout myshoe:Philistia, triumph thou because of me.
9 Who willbring me into thestrongcity? who willlead me into Edom?
10 Wilt not thou, OGod, which hadst cast usoff? and thou, OGod, which didst not goout with our armies?
11Give ushelp fromtrouble: forvain is thehelp of man.
12 ThroughGod we shalldovaliantly: for he it is that shall treaddown our enemies.
