I am therose ofSharon, and thelily of the valleys.
As thelily amongthorns, so is mylove among the daughters.
As the appletree among thetrees of thewood, so is mybeloved among thesons. Isat down under hisshadow with greatdelight, and hisfruit wassweet to my taste.
Hebrought me to thebanquetinghouse, and hisbanner over me was love.
Stay me withflagons,comfort me withapples: for I amsick of love.
His lefthand is under myhead, and his righthand doth embrace me.
Icharge you, O yedaughters ofJerusalem, by theroes,and by thehinds of thefield, that ye stir notup, norawake mylove, till he please.
Thevoice of mybeloved! behold, hecomethleaping upon themountains,skipping upon the hills.
Mybeloved islike aroe or ayounghart: behold, hestandethbehind ourwall, he lookethforth at thewindows,shewing himself through the lattice.
Mybelovedspake, andsaid unto me, Riseup, mylove, my fairone, and come away.
For, lo, thewinter ispast, therain isover and gone;
Theflowersappear on theearth; thetime of thesinging of birds iscome, and thevoice of theturtle isheard in our land;
The figtree puttethforth her greenfigs, and thevines with the tendergrapegive a goodsmell.Arise, mylove, my fairone, and come away.
O mydove, that art in theclefts of therock, in thesecret places of thestairs, let mesee thycountenance, let mehear thyvoice; forsweet is thyvoice, and thycountenance is comely.
Take us thefoxes, thelittlefoxes, thatspoil thevines: for ourvines have tender grapes.
Mybeloved is mine, and I am his: hefeedeth among the lilies.
Until thedaybreak, and theshadows fleeaway,turn, mybeloved, and be thoulike aroe or ayounghart upon themountains of Bether.
