The Hook

'Suppose a king sent a vital letter to his people and swore, "I will guard this letter; not one word will be lost." If the letter were later lost, what would that say about the king? Now hear what the King of kings swore about His Word.'

Point 1

His words are pure and preserved. 'The words of the LORD are pure words... Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever' (Ps 12:6-7). God did not merely inspire His words once; He promised to KEEP them, generation after generation.

Point 2

His words outlast the universe. 'Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away' (Matt 24:35). The created order is more fragile than the Word of God. The stars will burn out before one of His words fails.

Point 3

His Word lives and abides. 'Being born again... by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever... the word of the Lord endureth for ever' (1 Pet 1:23-25). The very Word that saves us is the Word He keeps forever.

The Line They Must Not Forget

Preservation is a promise God made and staked His own character on — not a hope we cross our fingers over.

The Appeal

If you believe God kept His promise to preserve His Word, then His Word exists, intact, somewhere on the earth today — not lost, not waiting to be reconstructed by scholars. The only question is WHERE He kept it.

Because the Word was hand-copied across centuries by thousands of scribes, small differences arose — but God preserved the true text through the overwhelming agreement of the majority that the church used. The differences actually PROVE preservation: with so many witnesses, the original reading is never lost, only confirmed by the weight of the many.

Return always to the promise. God said His words are pure and that He would keep and preserve them forever (Ps 12:6-7; Matt 24:35). A position that requires God's true Word to have been lost for 1,500 years cannot be true, because God does not lose what He swore to keep. That is the rock you stand on when the manuscript arguments run out.
